Didn't say that.

What he did was play Pryce at Stand off when McGuire was injured. This is despite the fact he should have played Pryce there from the off (either that, or played Burrow instead of Long). His hand was forced, in the same way that his hand was forced to play Tomkins last week, and Ainscough the week before.

Sean Long spat his dummy out and went home. Pryce was promptly plonked back on the wing, and Richard Horne was brought in at scrum half, with McGuire at Stand off.

What is the sense in that? At the time, Pryce was GB's best stand off, bar none, and McGuire was hopeless with anyone except Burrow at the side of him.

The team should have effectively picked itself, yet Noble ignored the obvious combinations. He continues to do this to this day, unless his hand is forced of course.

Rubbish, every academy player needs guidance and protection during their time from academy to first team. Too many players at Wigan got threw in at the deep end and now we are following the way Saints brought these 2 through. When i say protected i dont mean they had people making tackles for them or holding their hands i mean in the way the players are prepared and advised. All comes under the coaching. Protection from overuse, theyre bodies are still developing and are going against big hard experienced men, ie given games and taken out to stop fatigue becoming a problem in their muscles and causing injury. Too many players by the time they are 30 are burnt out not in their peak, look at what happened to Rads, Sculthorpe, Faz just to name a few.

Noble said this in the post match interview after the Quins match, and I quote; "I've NEVER been afraid to try out the young lads..."

WHAT??!!??

This is the man who's made a career out of picking his mates and out of date combinations that don't work! For example, the only time GB had a convincing win under him was when he was FORCED to play Leon Pryce at stand off against Australia. The following week, Pryce is back on the wing and that nobody Richard Horne is in.
This is obviously in addition to the fans screaming for the youngsters to be played, when he persists in playing overpaid, lazy Aussies.

At least be honest with us, Brian, if not with yourself.

There is nothing wrong with that statement.

Was or was not Pryce put back on the wing, and was or was not Richard Horne brought into the side in the same match?

Feel free to check before replying.

Has Noble stuck with:
O Carroll
J Tomkins
Ainscough

Since they played well for the club this season? Yes.

We all would have dropped Goulding. McClorum was getting more and more game time before his suspension. Prescott was injured.

So give the guy a break, he clearly does value our young lads. I didn't see Mathers anywhere this week, he could have dropped Ainscough for him but he didn't.

TO be fair, you couldn't possibly pick Mathers.

When Long came home from Australia in 2006 Horne wasnt in the tour squad, Burrow was reserve SH. What you on about?

Keep digging.

TBH I thought we would be waiting a lot longer to see the likes of Ainscough and Tomkins than we have. I agree Nobles hand has been forced to a degree but I think this thread is just a pure whinge about nout.

Do you think Rads or Faz were burned out? Both enjoyed testimonials. Maybe the Australians have it right as they always seem to and RL is a young mans sport which should be played much beyond the age of 30. IIRC Sculthorpe, Faz and Rads suffered injuries rather than burn out.

Nobody protected Shaun Edwards. If you are saying young players at Wigan are inadequately prepared as regards coaching compared to those at St Helens or Leeds then I would agree with you. That is the view of Mick Hogan too. Hogan hs been here what months, Noble years and one sees it, the other just made excuses.

The notion you can time when players begin their first team career is a fallacy. Most get their opportunities through necessity rather than anybody's choice.

Which he didn't.

Look at the amount of Wiganers in our squad used this season

Ainscough
J Tomkins
Goulding
S Tomkins
Hock
Lockers
O Carroll
McClorum

Not UK but Wigan lads. And look at there ages, nearly all under 25.
