Great read as always Wilf.
Re Smithy, I remember reading about his signing in the Hull mail and thinking who is this we have signed and questioning the boards wisdom, but what a coach he turned out to be and had he stayed longer would of took us to great success, and I still believe it was his coaching that won us the premiership the following spring after he left.

Agree catalans area joke with VISA's etc. They still can field more aussies than most clubs despite coming 3rd in the table last year and can sign players that english clubs can't.
Talk about a level playing field or what

Are you sure on that and Wilf
I believe there quota is 8 non french players, although with the RFl rule change that classes players who have been over here for a while like Manu, Tony etc as home grown, who knows+

Great read Wilf, though im fairly certain that Smiths last game in charge was against Leeds at the Boulevard. I think we won 34-14. Dixon was sent off for a head high on Greg Mackay. Brilliant night.

God read as usual Wilf. It was definitely Leeds in the final game though, remember the lap of honor clearly. One other little thing, John Muggleton wasn't signed by Smith, he was one of Buntings signings, he played in the 85 cup final, old age playing tricks with the memory.

THE INDEPENDANT: Today the east, which contains the biggest council estate in Europe, is poor, a place of high unemployment and low expectation. The west, which has the city centre and the university, is posh and prosperous.
