In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. He is right you idiot. He's been banned from playing NRL this year. You don't think clubs would have being queuing up to sign him if he hadnt!

Also, since when was he a "backrow forward". He hasn't played second-row for a fair amount of time. I think he would be classed as a stand-off/ball playing loose forward. Carlaw usually starts at 13 anyway and he isn't a loose forward so I think its a good signing. The more quality and ability in a side, the better.

wasn't the intention of the club and superleague to reduce the number of imports/australian cast-offs! RL is meant to be family orientated and his actions were not exactly that!

all that is going to happen is young french player reduced to playing Elite 1 with UTC all because Bird was available! so what if he was available? the club doesn't need him and it goes against everything that has been coming out of the club for the last few years

the more foreigners in any superleague team the worse for England/GB or France, I trust you were suitably embarrassed by the showing of the northern hemisphere countries in the World Cup, I was.

He's a forward who plays in the back row, ergo 'back row forward'. Though he may have played a lot of rugby in a jersey with a number 6 on the back of it, that alone does not make him a stand-off. There are no stand-offs* in Australian rugby any more, just another runner wearing number 6.

And CMR's comments a couple of posts back are bang on. All of them.

* - except Darren Lockyer, though if we'd signed him and not Bird, I think we'd all have a very different opinion.

Just pointing it out for the masses. Don't assume I'm criticising.
