There seems to be a general consensus of everybody is against us from Wakefield supporters.

Not really, we have a few who moan but most are like any other fans. There is a bit of a siege mentality at Wakey but that is not the same thing nor is it a bad thing it works for us. I think a lot of this boils down to a couple of games Klien reffed in which some people confused Kliens poor performance with Leeds brilliance on the night and got a bit carried away. I think we all shudder at the infamous petition idea  But all fans get carried away and forget that despite our percieved opinion on the ref the other team still had to beat us and did.

My general opinion on Leeds fans on here is that they are a bit arrogant and won't give credit where it is due. This I think is partly due to a siege mentality you yourselves used to have when you were branded the great under achievers. However I'm sure they are in the minority.

My general opinion on the Leeds club is that they have done exceptionally well in the last 10 years, especially considering the previous 20 years of abject failure. You are now a credit to the game.

However some Leeds fans need to be a little bit humble and at least accept they are a club that already has a large advantage over the rest.

Leeds is a massive city and a wealthy one. Since the demise of United you face little competition in the huge population area you control. You have a lot of money and you always have. Headingley is no longer the best stadium in RL but it's still a prize asset. None of this is your fault or anything to be ashamed of or for others to criticise it's just a fact of life.

Wakefield is a small city who's supporter base is spilt into three.

Truth is if Trinity get a new stadium, develop a great youth system, get a good sponsor and attract crowds similar to you in percentage terms and do everything right. We will still be hard pressed to compete all that often. Especially nowadays where money counts more than ever.

I can live with it so long as we get credit when we deserve it. We deserved it on friday, so called bigger and better teams will lose at Headingley by bigger margins that us. We gave you a game and that is all anyone can ask for from the opposition team.

and in a nutshell, this is the problem with Rugby League in the UK, bar two or three driven clubs, and 4 or 5 driven people, too many people at levels from top to bottom, from BARLA, to Chairmen to fans too many people are just happy to be here

When clubs like Wakefield stop coming to headingley wondering about how to save face, and start wondering how to win, maybe they can make a contribution,

Being here is never enough, anybody pretending it is is simply a drain on the sport,

If Wakefield cant do what leeds do but better, then they do something different, there is no excuse for failure in sport

I agree with that.

I myself had to endure the taunts for many years as we underacheived and I do tend to rub it in a bit now. Its 30 years of hurt i'm afraid.

The johny come latelys that have only started supporting Leeds since we won something and dont know what its like to be unsuccessful have no right to be so condescending to other clubs IMO.

Good point. Leeds have been through the mill over the years even in recent time I remember when Dean Bell had to play against PSG and then scored to keep us in SL. I forget the year, someone will tell me. But even so that was relitively recently.

You are quite correct that the Johny come latelys should not be condescending to other clubs and to be fair neither should the 'old hands'.

We have always been lucky that we have a great club with a proud tradition and even in the dark times we had that to fall back on.

I think my point is that just because when we were down and got a kicking does not mean that now we are up we should be doing the same because as Leeds itself has proved, what goes up, does come down (and then back up again).

Or is my point I have been out in the desert too long?

SL 1 1996.

Leeds were in no real danger of relegation that season thanks to Workington's presence.

It worked.

While relegation wasn't a serious threat that season the way Leeds limped into the summer era and the direction the club was heading was.
