So what did we make of him at centre?

Great try from the scrum base, got the better of a good player in Johnson, defensively sound. Obviously not the classy desicion maker that gidley is, but good enough if we want to stay at the top end of the league??

What do we think?

Agreed with all your points there mate just needs to work on his decision making. Gilmour is a class player I just hope he doesnt get out of his pram because he isnt in the back row anymore.

Pretty decent, but he will need to learn to pass to his winger. He made Talau look like Gidley.

Tweet from @martinoffiah 23/08/2011: 'Must admit i did love watching Saints- Cunningham Joynt Longy Tommy then Leon, last classic RL team ever'. Even the dark side can't help but love the rebellion.

lol kinda true but that comes with confidence in the position - I'm sure he'll do as good a job as Talau did. He'll never have the class that Gidley has but then again there arnt many that have.

I think it's a mixture of confidence in the position and confidence in his winger. You could see on a couple of occasions where there was a bit of an overlap he looked outside him and seemed to think twice about giving Armstrong the ball. With a more experienced winger outside him, or with some games alongside Armstrong under his belt, that might change.

He's potentially better than Talau as he actually has a bit more pace and ability to beat a man. Both have poor hands for outside backs though.

Do you not think that maybe Gilly was under instruction not to expose Armstrong too much considering he was on debut :?:

I would imagine he would already know being as he is vastly experienced. Saying that I would imagine Potter had a word too.

I think he'll do a decent job in the centres this year, his defence is spot on and maybe running out wide he'll be able to create more holes, as we have said hopefully as the games go on he will be able to create more for his winger.
