And therein lies the problem. The differences in our peaks and troughs are vast and has been a common theme under Radford. Our only consistency is our inconsistency. For a team hoping to challenge for honours on a regular basis it needs addressing.

That's pretty much every side the last 5 years.
I honestly think that Pearson and Radford know it and try to address it players wise next year.
We have basis of a very good side, pivots are good enough and backs aren't far off, just need a bit more pace.
Personally I would ship out the deadwood regardless of who is available. The likes of Thompson and Fash will simply never be top half of SL standard. If it means we have a skinny squad and have to blood more kids then so be it. I prefer that to keeping on players who's long term future is elsewhere. It's not like the youngsters could perform a lot worse.
Cut the squad by 5 or 6 bodies, spend that extra cash on a handful of quality imports, and rely more on the academy.

It's not just been under Radford though has it , It was said a few years back (maybe under Gentle ?) we need to bring nearer our worst performances and our best performances closer together . This is just not happening .

But it's not an ingrained Hull thing it's a coaching quality. You don't just join Hull and wake up an inconsistent or poor player. Consistency and mind set start at the top and in that we are lacking. We were very fortunate with the squad we had in 2016/17, a team that could motivate and marshall themselves. Can we again replicate that next year, who knows.
Pick out the senior players who have played in all the drubbings, those and the ones like thompson, logan who we know arnt good enough or consistent enough to be at a top 4 club.
The seniors should be leading by example when were met with abit of adversity, imo i only ever see Ellis and Taylor and now and again Houghton doing this.
We needed big games from Mini, Manu, Green, Ellis, Taylor and Houghton last night as well as Westerman and Hadley who can be very inconsitent
Must be released list for me is Mini, Manu, Paea, Washy, Thompson, Logan
Must find consistency list Hadley, Fash, Westerman , Green and Bowden when hes back
Id recruit two quality second rowers with decent injury records who can offer leadership and presence Joel Thompson and Alex Glenn perhaps, couple that with a hard hitting prop with a big presence. Bring Brown through too id honestly think about replacing Green with Jack Brown.
Let Jordan Lane, Bienek and Jez Litten benefit from Washys, Thompson and Possibly Fashs release too.
