Over the last 12 months Radford and Pearson have stated that they will be following the same processes as Wigan/Leeds etc. regarding youth, LR followed that through this year. Hopefully this mindset will lead to us to breaking this cartel. They should be praised.

The quality of the coaching at the club is a legitimate part of any conversation regarding our ability to break into the 'cartel' of clubs at the top table. The most successful teams have been the richest teams. Either due to having the biggest fan bases or the wealthiest benefactors. Other teams might have good seasons, here and there but can't realistically expect to sustain it without matching spending.

Investment in youth is crucial, but if you're having to pick and choose your priorities you won't get the full benefit that a club investing at all levels does.

It's possible to spend sufficient and fail to break the cartel, but to have a chance you have to.

So yeah, mainly 'money'. It facilitates good decisions and irons out the bad ones.

Standee is right in that your club will never improve by appointing inexpensive Australian journeymen or illiterate ex-players with little experience as coach.
