| I've just bought the rugby league express and they've done a Super League rookies to watch article. The rookies are:
Bradford: James Donaldson
Castleford: John Davies
Catalans: Tony Gigot
Celtic: Elliot Kear
Harlequins: Ben Jones - Bishop
Huddersfield: Larne Patrick
Hull F.C: Dennis Tuffour
Hull K.R: Scott Taylor
Leeds: Luke Ambler
Salford: Jack Spencer
St Helens: Jonny Lomax
Wakefield: Dale Morton
Warrington: Tyrone McCarthy
Wigan: Josh Vievers
I haven't heard of most of them but Jonny Lomax is a good call, everyone used to rave on about him as a junior. I can't see Vievers getting a game next season with Phelps at full back and Richards/Roberts most likely providing cover, so I reckon our rookie to watch should be Liam Farrell. We've lost two second rowers since last season and it's a position where you get a lot of injuries so I reckon he'll get a few games, plus he was the academy player of the year so he'll probably take his chance well when it comes. Which youngster do you think will have a big year in 2010?*
*I've included players with squad numbers but less than 10 games in the poll, it would be too easy to include Ainscough and Mossop

| Liam Farrell without a doubt, followed closely by Ben Davies and (some might not agree) Stefan Marsh.

| They are all good players but there is a difference between being a good player at this level and being able to last in super league, so many come in and fail.
I think the ones most likely to make it at Wigan are....
Liam Farrell
Ben Davies
John Walker
Joe Mellor
Josh Charnley

| I think a lot depends on the position the youngster plays as to whether they'll get any game time or not.
Because of this my vote would go to either Farrel or Davies, plus those two have been on the fringe a while longer than some of the others on the list.

| Liam Farrell is definatley the one to watch next season. I'm looking forward to seeing him this year just as much as I was looking forward to Sam getting a go last year.

| Liam Farrell has every chance of becoming absolutely top class in the future. He was the best player in the reserves last season, imo. I was looking forward to seeing him in SL at the back end of last season and was gutted when he was injured.
I think Vievers is a great prospect as well but i doubt he'll get any game time at all.

Also who's the current Prime Minister?
These are the questions that Rogues loved one's need to ask. That way they can determine whether it may be time for the retirement home.

| James Donaldson is a very exciting prospect at Bradford. A future England international if ever I saw one. His tackling technique and strength are excellent. He was the lad who kept Feka quiet when we played Bradford at Osdal.
As for Wigan Liam Farrell will most likely get a shot, but the real surpise could be for me is Josh Charnley.

He is exactly what a modern winger needs to be IMO. Strong, quick, good defence, can take a high ball, can finish like anyone. We could throw him in at anytime now IMO. Thornley is another in the backs.

| I'd agree with the general concensus the Liam Farrell will be one to watch. From the rest of the list I'd say Luke Ambler from Leeds. I'm surprised we didn't show much interest when he left Salford.

Had the pleasure of working with Luke at Salford, and it was a pleasure.
The first training session i did not know who were the "star" juniors and who were there to make up the numbers, as soon as i had finished that first session without seeing him play I said Luke will be a top player, his attitude is superb.
Said this for a few years to many more experienced coaches who laughed it off, the minute he signed for Leeds people started to take notice.
Not sure he will ever be a full GB international but he is going to have a very good career. The potential in Leeds future frontrow is massive, Ambler, Amor, Pitts, Burgess pretty impressive.
Jack Spencer is also a very good player maybe a year early for him to make his mark but a very tough lad with great hands.

| Joe Mellor for me. Class will tell in the end - Snatched from Warrington's grasp, this lad is a quiet, unassuming, rugby genius. Don't think fame would go to his his head; like good wine he will improve with age. Playing with Tomkins Wigan will have the best half back pairing in the Super League if he gets his chance

My judgement isn't just based on that article. I've seen and been told many positive things about Josh. A very talented & hard working young lad. While ability is always a deciding factor in which young players to look out for, I always believe you should look for ambition, desire and passion from a young lad. The 2009 Wigan reserve team had so much of it as well as talent.

I agree to the above, but Mellor has had a bad injury so this year might not be his year.
