Just a quick post regarding the minutes silence for Leon Walker on sunday which (inside the playing area of the ground) was immaculately observered by all.

We were in our usual place in the South Stand and there was lots of noise coming from the concourse below where drinks & food were still being sold. Surely it would be more in keeping with the sentiment if all sales are halted for that minute so everyone can be silent. I know it can never be perfectly silent but this will help the situation!!

Things like this tragedy dont happen often (thankfully) but it would be good IMO if this could be the norm for any future silences.

Just an observation - what was it like in the North & West Stands?

The West stand was silent.

I think there was a lot of noise outside the stadium and from the concourse but you cant make everyone quiet I guess.

I hate agreeing with Wigan, but they closed the turnstiles for their minutes silence.

Not a sound from us in the North Stand

They did the same at Wakefield and rightly so.

Where I was stood in the southstand on sunday I only heard 2 people talking ("chavs" complaining it was a long minute) but the look I gave them soon shut them up.

Everyone else, as expected remained silent.

I was quite surprised that I never heard one mobile ring, or a message tone go off.

Minute silences are a license for phones to just go bananas for no reason at all.

As did I. I'd forgotten about it until the players walked out side by side, there was a hurried mission to get the people I was with to turn their phones on silent

Footy fans just ruined theres!

I was going to start an O/T on this after watching the start of the England game..
Why in God's name can't football fans keep stum for one loving minute.??

Actually its not a minute they call it a moment of silence...

R.L. fans are no less passionate than footie fans we drink before and during the game and 9 times out of 10 R.L. silences and perfectly observed..

These are England fans. The clowns boo other teams National anthems, and tarnish the country's name all over Europe. Says it all really.

Getting slighty o/t but what was tonight's slience for they had the same for the Wales game which was also ruinned but as I was watching on a German channel I didnt understand who it was for.

For the 19 people that died at the Ivory Coast match over the weekend. So many people wanted to get in the stadium because Drogba was making a return to international football after injury.

What happened during the football minutes silence? Foz had the game on but I wasn't really paying attention (I hate football).

Anyone remember the Widnes fans booing during the minute's silence for the Queen Mum at Wilderspool? You're always going to get idiots who haven't got an ounce of respect in their bodies. What people forget is regardless of what they think of whoever the silence is for, that person (or people) was somebody's mum/dad/brother/sister/wife/husband/etc.... and they should try and empathise.

The usual story- silence was observed for about 10-15ses before one or two start shouting or whistling, then the problem is compounded when people start booing or shushing those making the noise, a real shame.
