| SEB:
is you scoring system fundamentally flawed as it suggests Vinnie Anderson had a decent game last week whilst it has been widely reported on here by all and sundry that he was rubbish. Your stats also suggest that Higham has been our most consistent performer this year to date whilst Rogues Gallery has proved he's been crap and not a patch on Riddell Wigan (who even Wigan fans acknowledge has been a disappointment to date - although that may be due to expecting too much).
Or do you think that your scoring system suggests that people only see what they want to see?

Yeah, there is that.
The stats do say that Gleeson was pretty darn good though, and he quite clearly wasn't.

| Brilliant, thanks.
So from those stats everyone. Would you say that was a bad game or a good game?
I think that is ok for second row. He is usually better when at loose forward.

| Havent we had this missed tackle thing before....if you get rounded and stood up like an uninterested fool and you stick an arm out that is some distance away from the attacker, that doesnt count as a missed tackle.
to make a missed tackle you have to at least get some contact....

| My summary of Vinnie is:
-contrary to popular opinion, Vinnie is NOT lazy. If the stats prove anything, they prove he is consistently hard working, week in week out;
-he does seem to be having "quieter" games recently though, in that he's not making big breaks or scoring decent tries;
-as well as all his good work, such as tackling and offloads, he is prone to glaring errors, such as running into touch and a bad missed tackle that lead to a try, both on Sunday.

Seems like a level headed and well thought out summary. I agree with what SEB says

Indeed. When I have been doing stats you will find that some players will make 30+ tackles in a game and will inevitably miss one or two. However you wil get a lazy git who makes one and misses none so gets a great 100% completion record.
Only a committed player will then surely miss tackles?
PS Vinnie Anderson; he is working but expectations of his ability are higher amongst the supporters.

| Stats can be tailored to fit anything really, a player who makes 30 tackles but is in 2nd or 3rd man can look better than a player who makes 10 but they are all one on one to stop line breaks or stop trys.

Do you know how they record them at SL level? I always tend to give a count if the player has actually made an effective contribution to the tackle.

Well yes, but in reality very few in any players actually play like that.
