| Quote Philth="Philth"Am i reading this right? People are calling for Hughes to come back? Nearly spat my 4:30 brandy out'"
To be clear, I’m not calling for him to come back. I was suggesting that in a team that is clinging on for dear life, he would be effective. He’s a sound defender. He just offers nothing in attack at all. Whereas Currie is a luxury of being a good attacker when we are on the front foot (but we’re never on the front foot) and a weak defender.

| Would happily take hughes back at hudds- dont know what you lot have done to him. a shadow of the lad he was. Always been a Hard working defender- but I don’t recognise this description of him offering nothing in attack- always used to be pretty handy at running a line.
In fact he’s Exactly the kind of player you lot are lacking at wire by the look of it- too many primadonnas and not enough guys willing to put in a shift, do the hard graft and put bodies on the line for each other. Want to be the one to score a winning try but not save one, or build for one.
Hughes is Exactly the kind of player who would excel under Watson as well. So if you don’t want him we will take him! Hilly has had a new lease of life under a good coach since he moved over the Pennines.

| I won’t both Hughes and Jace Clark back. Our defence was a whole lot better when they were fit and regular.
My issue and agenda has always been the same since before the season started.
And follows me on every post I’ve made.
Props win games.
From way before we played out first game at Leeds, it was obvious we were too light up front.

| Just less than a year ago I posted this on the original Darryl Powell thread :-
"Anyone else concerned about the performance of our next coach and his current team?
Since beating us on the 5th June they have lost 6 games on the bounce and including the CCF. Now I know they have less resources than Warrington but this is one of the worst sets of recent results in the SL. They also seem to have a lot of problems with Covid and injuries, I don’t know whether this is just bad luck or poor management.
Daryl Powell is moving to a much bigger outfit, he will have a bigger player roster some on big money and egos to manage, he will need to manage upwards and downwards, with bigger expectations and scrutiny. He has demonstrated in the past that he can develop players, hopefully he can develop the club.
If I was Mr Fitzpatrick I would be a bit worried. As am I. anyone else?"
I got some stick then, however, but to me it was blindingly obvious that the club had made the wrong decision. In fact his performance and therefore the team's is even worse than I feared. I am sick and tired of his excuses of blaming the players and accepting no responsibility for what is happening on the pitch. Even today he has picked out some of the junior players for public criticism and once again mentioned Riley Dean's last first team performance against Wigan. I feel he has lost the plot, the team, supporters and the majority of games this season. We are in real danger, even if we escape the drop.
Why do people think that he will be able to coach his new signings into a title winning team? The board need to get a grip and move him and the rest of his coaching team on, get someone with real man management and modern coaching credentials to give the town the team we all deserve.

| I did chuckle when I saw his comments TODAY about deans Wigan performance. A couple of errant kicks but fails to mention his excellent solo try, something we could really do with right now. I genuinely believe if we had Dean at six today rather than the dreadful Ratchford then we would’ve won.
I know Powell will lead us next season and I can understand the logic but I do believe we’re heading down the wrong path. A coach does not count on the salary cap and we should go for the best there is…and I think we have put the money up in this direction but yet again backed the wrong horse.

| The board got the appointment wrong. In truth, seeing a Powell-led side miss the playoffs is not an anomaly, it’s quite common. The decision to go with this guy lacks credible justification. Lee Radford has more pedigree, and was available. I wouldn’t have wanted him, but head to head he is the better appointment.

| Powell is an idiot, and an idiot with the power to ruin our club.
He plays Holmes, minnikin, Currie, Davis when they are clearly either out of form or they just don,t care.....and instead of taking any responsibility for that or blaming them, he still has a pop at Dean like this:-
“Riley’s been out for a few weeks but he’ll be a consideration moving forward,” he said.
“He’s had a couple of strong games but his last game against Wigan wasn’t so great.
“I thought he played really well with the reserves yesterday and he’s back with us now.”
Get this idiot out of our club before he ruins it for years to come.
