If I were Keef I’d be putting all I have under the hammer. Once his playing career is over (which won’t be more than a year or two away) his regular income will drop like a stone and even if he does decide to go into coaching or similar it’ll take at least a few years before he’s earning a reasonable wage.
I say “good on him” – making hay while the sun shines springs to mind because in 20 years this stuff will be worth a fraction of what it is now.

Sir Bobby Moore ended up as a local radio pundit, unable to get anything out of the game, so it's not exactly unheard of.
Modern footballers are of course different, their salaries mean they're set for life, unlike many from previous generations and virtually all RL players. |
