| I couldn't find the mobile phone thread and hope someone can help me with a problem I'm having.
My Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 connects great with my home wifi and any other wifi that I've specifically connected it to and put the password in etc.
When I am out and about it will connect to free wifi (The Cloud etc) but flatly refuses to do anything at all as far as browsing, downloading is concerned. If I switch the wifi off and go back onto my data allowance its fine.
Anyone else had / got the same issue ? or managed to resolve it. Phone is pretty new btw
I'm on EE / Orange Network

No. I think I have solved the problem now, just a few tests to do. Thanks for the reply.

| Well this is the Samsung helpdesk I'll ask a question then - I seem to have been donated, in exchange for my own new phone, a crappy old Samsung Galaxy S, no not an S2 or even an S3, just an S - its what happens when daughters prefer your new phone to their old ones.
Anyway, it was pretty choked up with shoite and so I wiped everything off it and did a factory reset, disconnected it off the wifi and it works fine as a phone and text message thing - but it won't recognise the usb or SD memory now even though there is a working card (although its been formated, by this phone) in it.
Phone software and Kies don't see the card at all, any clues ?
Tip for fathers out there - if you get a new phone, don't let your daughters know about it.

Meh, for the difference in price you'd be better off with the actual SIII. In Three at the moment it's £26 a month for the mini (500 minutes, 5000 texts, unlimited internet) but for an extra £3 you can get the SIII on the same deal.

| And the battery is appalling. I went back to my iPhone.
People were saying "Oh close this and disable that" whats the bloody point in having all these mind blowingly amazing features if you can't use them unless you're plugged into the mains?!

Which version of Android does it have and have you tried updating it to the most recent for that phone? Some of the old versions of Android used to limit memory card size.
Another thing to try is putting another SD card in. SD cards are very breakable, particularly if used by girls.
You say it won't recognise the USB, how do you charge it?

In my experience there is little between the SIII and the iPhone 4s/5 battery wise, bluetooth eats battery on them both as does WiFi searching when there is no WiFi to join.

Maybe I got a dud as I checked it against the iPhone over a few days. Even using the iPhone more than the Samsung.
I got the feeling I was using a shrunken tablet that had the ability to make calls. Whereas the iPhone feels a much more complete product. I don't want to turn this into another thread about which is best though.
amazing potential - poor battery. Phones have come so far the last few years, yet batteries don't seem to have developed. It's a shame
