Dowes is poor, but so is Clinton I wouldn't be happy if he was a quota player at Hull, he reminds me of Peter Cusack.
When Lovegrove is back he would be the prop I would drop.

 Clinton is poor? What have you being smoking. After joining rovers a few games into the 2010 season he finished with the highest metre per carry of any1 in the league. Something like 8.7 metres per carry. Clinton is far from poor and I'd have him in my side over any prop Hull could offer me. |

Maybe it's just me then, but everytime I watch him he looks like a plodder, as he did on Sunday, decent defence thats it.
Maybe he plays well when I dont see him play, you do see him more.

I agree that O Meley is the better prop but wouldnt go as far as "twice" as good. |

Bit concerned that the thread GML was [uvery[/u quick off the mark to post hasn't been bumped since Round 1, despite the rather savage mockery of the lovely Ewan and specifically his tacklebusting in 2010 (whilst recognising his hit ratio was better than virtually all Rovers props). Halfway through the 2011 season seems about right to re-cap, and it seems that a theme is developing. How can this be?
Tackle busts per appearance:
Dowes 7 from 9 = 0.78
Lovegrove 6 from 8 = 0.75
Clinton (HPFABB) 7 from 10 = 0.70
Wheeldon 4 from 7 = 0.57
Vella 5 from 9 = 0.56
Watts 4 from 11 = 0.36
Obviously Dowes has peaked too early and will be overtaken and left trailing in the wake of these Titans shortly, but well done Ewan on a satisfactory start to the year. By way of context, our left hand side of Manu (part of the much ridiculed Tongan Mafia), Yeaman (flat track bully) and Briscoe (lacking athleticism to make it in the back line, apparently) have mustered 126 tackle busts between them. It's a funny old world.
