No just the forwards. He used to be a 2nd rower but our coach wants to play him prop. He was on loan at harlequins last season.

If it is him then another excellent addition to the squad and a bit of experience in the pack to add to the experience of Paul Cooke in the backline COYD

Muscular or what?

I'm not sure how I feel about this - we already have more forwards than we will probably need while possible being a little light on cover still in the backs - add to that the fact that he plays a similar position to chris green while (in theory anyway) being further on in his development I honestly can't see us having him around that often either. Don't get me wrong I'm sure he'll go very well at this level and having him can't hurt - I was just hoping for a back when I read we had someone else.

Dont know too much about him with him being from the darkside, but if true a player with his experience can only help

Didn't the initial tease from DonsNews say it was a Dual Registration. Aren't these for an entire season. If he (assuming it is the player being suggested) was only here for a month it would be a loan surely?

Why would we want a player for a month when we have with the exception of Townend a fully fit squad.

you have both made good points. i think however you look at it, whether it be dual, as rightly noted by originaldragon, or a month, it can only benefit the squad. why? only the coaching staff can answer that, im sure there is a very good reason. Also the fact that we are discussing it shows that Donsnews is doing a good job in creating interest, building to an anouncement

Are we sure there will be an announcement? I mean this close to Sunday personally I'm wondering if there is just going to be a 'Ta Da!' moment when they announce teams. Also bear in mind it may not be said player - personally I'm still (although perhaps somewhat vainly) hoping for a back as this makes much more sense in my view due to the make up of our squad.

I'm hoping for the opposite.

We have a back situation were good players are struggling to get into the team re Sanderson/Colton and re Crowther/ Cunningham. The backs are doing just fine, the forwards need tweeking.

All our points (nearly) are coming from the backs and next to nowt from forwards. I don't care really about them scoring per se, I do care that we can muscle up against the best packs in our division and free the backs to do their job. And that opposition forwards can't bust us down the middle.



So I think Miller would (and has so far) be getting it right by making his forward pack a formidable one. Any signings should be forwards barring emergencies in the backs.

23 year-old Burnett, who was sent out on loan to Harlequins last season, has over 50 Super League appearances to his name and will go straight into the squad ahead of Sunday's Northern Rail Cup clash against York City Knights at the Keepmoat Stadium (3pm kick-off).
