| Wholeheartedly agree. The franchise system is tantamount to a cartel, who place a restiction on trade.
As for supporters it takes away the drama and suspense of promotion, and leaves clubs with nothing to play for and a level of flatness throughout the season, knowing that there is nothing really to play for.
My view on this is that it forced onto the game by SKY Sports, particularly Stevo. Like Ray French I think it is time that he moved on. We've had him now for 20 years. If he likes NRL so much let him go back and watch it live in his adopted homeland.

| When there was a chance that you could get into the big time via the P&R route in the late eighties, early nineties teams like ourselves, Workington, Oldham, Keighley etc were regularly pulling in crowds in excess of two thousand. You take away the dream and most of the fans will follow...
Don't worry though because everything in SL is fine ie Wakefield,Bradford,Crusaders,London.

| P & R works perfectly well in football...you get teams like Stoke and Blackpool competing at the top level and they do it all of their own backs.
Personally I think Fev and Fax would have made a better fist of SL than Widnes are currently doing as last year Widnes wernt even a decent championship side.
I also have no problem with expansion and new teams in the league but they should work their way up the RL tree not just be fast tracked into Sooooooper League becuase they are in new area. I think Northampton being in CL1 is a good idea as long as they are not given "special" treatment and RL backed signings to artificially get promoted.
If they wont go the whole hog and reinstate P & R how about something similar to what I think they used to do in Yawnion....Bottom of SL against Top of Championship over to legs, overall winner goes/stays in SL looser goes/stays in Championship.
