Disappointed but going in the right direction. Effort there just a few things to sort out. Says a lot when some are whining about losing to Wigan in the last 2 min. Onwards to Huddersfield

Thought you probably should have won that game - apart from a poor opening 15 minutes you were mostly on top and maybe just came up with too many silly mistakes.



A lot to be positive about though as previous Hull sides would have collapsed after that opening 15.



Wigan are a fit team and have always had a lot of grit and resilience, add that bit of individual quality and we're always dangerous towards the end of the game if you don't take your chances. The big positive for us was that we lost two players to injury, we were running out of subs but still hung in there.

Put Bowden there or McNamara to give Houghton a break, looked tired the last 5, hence the easy meters for the drop goal.



Hodgsons biggest weakness, use of the bench.

Or leaving a clearly injured Satae on the field leading to the Field try

Yeah, I'm not sure what the point of having on the bench was. There was no obvious way to bring him on unless we had an injury.

Fair result, no complaints. Had a good go. Hope Satae is ok.

Anyway, we can all whinge about a few errors during the game but on the whole I thought we played well and it bodes well for the rest of the season.

Gale looked very rusty but I'm sure he'll get better.

McIntosh back after a number of weeks off, Gale with a strapped up knee, Griffin with a strapped up elbow.......

Did Satae being injured have any impact on that try, I didn't notice at the time, will have to watch again.



Just looked a poor one on one miss from Lovodua on first watch?

Pretty hard one to take. Two poor starts at the beginning of each half didn't help.



The Havard try was soft.



Didn't use Wynne off the bench.



Dumb end to the second half. Our last few sets were really poor. 2 Connor errors and the Luke Gale DG attempt helped seal our fate.



On a positive note Lovodua must be the find of the season. We best have a clause in his contract to trigger an extension.

I wouldn't have the last one down as a Connor error, Mitch should have catch it.

Yep no doubt about that, as another example of poor use of the bench. The times we have an unused player on the bench is a strange one to fathom especially when we were in a short turn around as just drains our energy.



Think Gale coming back in was why we looked disjointed at times. So hopefully will be all the better for getting that game out the way.

It looked like he got a dead leg after taking a drive in the set after his try. Looked to have ran it off though.



On Fields second try, maybe Mitch should've jammed in too?

I like that teams will now be taking notice of what Lovodua can do. Will get them another player to worry about rather than focusing most efforts on Jake. Great to have another threat that can make something happen out of nothing.

Maybe. We had the ball in a good area though. I would've like to have seen us work for the DG at that time in the game

Just watched the Field 2nd try again, would love to know how Satae being injured cost us that try like Bonaire said?

We should have set up for one at around 70 minutes when we were only 30 out but Gale kicked on the 4th. Very unlucky not to be given the scrum there though, it was a clear knock on and quite laughable it was missed.

Bad miss that one, thought overall Hicks had a decent game though

Reynolds fit for next week. I wonder if Lovodua will keep his place at 6 or used elsewhere. He's earned the right to keep the shirt for me.

I agree, he's looked more dangerous at 6 than Reynolds so far.

I like that it was just penalty sufficient after Partingtons high tackle. Don't really think it was a bad one but feel like previously he would have been given a yellow.

Hodgson was questioned after the game about Reynolds returning next week and he said something along the lines of Lovodua has done well "playing out of position". Made it sound like Reynolds would come back in at 6 and Lovodua move to where he signed to play. While he has done well in the halves, we've seen barely anything of him at 9 so I would be happy to see him given a shot.

Every one of his posts tonight has been a moan. Nothing to say about any of our tries.
