| I’d stick him him on loan at Donnie for a year, see how he likes them apples, can’t settle my backside, we’re too soft in these situations,
Remember what Wigan did with Tag.

| Quote Rugby Raider="Rugby Raider"I agree.
It’s a shame it didn’t work out for us and Josh Jones. As someone said earlier, some deals work out and others don’t.
Easy to say he should have moved to the Hull area, however none of us will know the full story and Covid may have played a factor too.
I think we should still demand a fee from Huddersfield, as he’s still within contract or push for a player, if Brett wants one of their squad.'"
If you demand you might be left with a player who does not want to be with you. Have to pay his wages and limit Hodgson’s options re new signings. These situation require a bit of give and take.

Agree 100%. In any team sport having a player that doesn’t want to be there creates a problem, not just in games but brings down the quality of training as well.
Move him on, sign better.

Personally would rather keep Griff at centre, think he's great there. Swift feels like a bit of a free signing. Having lost Shaul, Kelly and Ratu our backs look really short of pace, needs addressing.

| Josh Hasn't settled or integrated and hasn't mixed and if he doesn't want to play for us then good luck to him. However, for me personally I think that as the Huddersfield owner was telling everyone that their new Coach has some money at his disposal to spend I'd want a fee. Times are hard and this is a business we are talking about here, we have spent a fair bit on injury rehab, Covid rehab, scans testing travel expenses etc on this player, for very little return on the field (through at times I agree no fault of the player) and we are a bit soft sometimes in these situations.

| If he wants to leave, then yes, find a way for him to leave. (Dont have no bad feelings towards him) however I wouldn't let him leave for nothing. If hudds wont pay or swap for him, loan him out for last year of his deal, which would get his wages off our cap.

Yeah I'd heard Houghton had joined Kelly as our top earner a few seasons ago when their contracts had been sorted last time around.
I'd hazard a guess at Kelly on 150k, Ratu possibly 80k, Jones 100k and god knows what Ellis was on when he first signed prob around 100k, like you said I reckon we've about 300k in wages slashed. Be interesting if Pearson wants that to nullify the sky shortfall and spend any fee for Jones plus all the smaller wages release to put towards a halfback.

| A 6 has to be where we spend our money. Then add some depth on an outside back and a forward.
This along with better coaching should see us improve on this season.
Looking at the squads for next season, Wigan and Saints look miles ahead of the rest, 3rd/4th is up for grabs though.

Could you please explain the difference finance wise to FC between signing for Hudds with no fee and loaning him out for the season to get him off the cap.

It's a fair point, if Hudds dont pay a fee though I'd be tempted to loan him to another club, a but like Wigan did with Scott Taylor. Think they will pay a fee then, even if it's not as big as it should be.

If we loan him out, get the club who loan him to pay his wage then he wont count on fc cap. Gives us more cap space for this season and going forward. As after his loan season he will be ooc

| I’d still hold out for a fee as he’s contracted to us and he was happy to sign the contract for two years. Otherwise what’s the point of having a contract?
I agree we shouldn’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be here, but as someone said it’s give and take.
If Josh is desperate to leave and go to Huddersfield, then we can tell him he can go as long as we get a fee. Otherwise he can stay with us for another year and commute daily to Hull five days a week. If he doesn’t turn up for work, then we don’t have to pay him his wages. I’m sure he won’t fancy the idea of that.
Give and take works both ways and we don’t need to be the party that compromises on everything.
Hopefully the whole situation gets resolved quickly and we can all move on.

To me, just seems players like to use the 'home sick' or 'not settling' as an excuse to get out of contracts. If you let one do it, the next player that signs , then here's that a 'bigger club's want him or just doesn't want to be at the club for whatever reason, they can use the same excuse.
That's the reason I'd say, dont let him just walk away. Lay down a example.

No speed, poor defence, improved his passing a bit but he will still end up in the second row.
Probably cost us the game against Wigan
Pushing a defender when it wasnt necessary leading to a disallowed try and then we all know what happened when great field position was given up when he ran twenty metres to provoke the Wigan player and give away a penalty.
We all know what happened after that.
He did the same thing against Wigan at Wembley running into Gildart when it wasnt necessary leading to a try by Fonua been ruled out for his obstruction. That would have put us in front with a comfortable lead but we had to battle for the win and could have lost that game near the end.
You have your opinion on Griffin and thats fine but you only seem to see the metres he makes coming out of backfield.
There is a lot more to being a top centre in S/L than that
