Yes. But it's hardly a new term.

There'll be nothing to watch if sponsors stop going because they'd rather extend their working week and attend a Friday night rather than leave their family on a Sunday.
We went back to Sundays and crowds went down.

I thank you! So if it’s a dead leg then call it that. All these colloquialisms do not afford clarity. Anyway the only dead leg I have nowadays is me middle stump.

Sponsors will not stop going to matches if everyone switched back to Sunday.
When you sponsor a team you pay a fee whether you go to the matches or not.
I would also argue that additional away support generated by playing on a Sunday would compensate for the loss of one or two sponsors.
Its something the new Super league should be seriously looking at as well as the TV rights renewal.

Karen is quite right in that our attendances went diwnnwhen we went back to Sunday’s and it had a significant impact on the revenue stream from sponsors too if I remember. Away fans also was a minimal increase compared to Friday nights.
Sponsors are no longer just fans wanting to put money in to a club they love they are now businesses that use sponsoring & hospitality as a serious marketing tool. As such many invite their own clients/customers who aren’t necessarily big fans of the club or sport so a Friday night is ideal for them to attend. It’s very difficult speaking from experience to get people to come to events on a Sunday due to them not wanting to take up family time with a work event.
So unfortunately if sponsors can’t get a benefit from sponsoring other than handing the club money then sponsors will disappear from the club and use their budget elsewhere.
So to say sponsors will still continue to go is not quite true as unless there is a financial benefit to doing it many won’t as it is done purely for business reasons

| Not sure how many clubs in rugby league would take that level of support to an away game when their team has won one game in eight months

Which is possibly why all away games, except those scheduled for Thursday TV, are on Saturday or Sunday. Maximising ticket revenue for the hosts and us, as we get a wedge of the ticket sales sold through FC.

| i know much has been said about paea this year, me included, but if he can stay anywhere near the level hes been at the last 2 matches then I for one will be a happy bunny, with taylor coming back maybe even this fri and Bowden not far off, throw masi into that and our front row is looking good, special mention to griffin as well, fingers crossed things are looking up, only 2 weeks ago people where writing our season off, got our leader back in ellis, gotta keep our feet on the ground but we are cert in a better frame of mind than for a long long time, COYH

Of course people WERE writing our season off, we'd lost 13 on the bounce or had you conveniently forgotten that with your super power of hindsight?
I'm pleased we've won our last 2 and hope we've turned a corner for the good but let's not get too carried away yet, it's still early days but 2 from 4 is encouraging.
Whilst I'm pleased to see Ellis back as he is a quality player and leader it also disappoints me slightly at the same time that we've had to bring a 37 year old player out of retirement to give the team that spark that has been missing and that none of our other new signings are good enough to fill the gaps instead.

| we have lost 2 this year, last years don't count, agree about ellis but if he can give us some leadership all well and good, I still don't think Houghton should be captain, ratu seems to be going well, bienik still early days, dawson was going ok till he got injured, Thompson is solid, langtree and Leroy might not get a run for the first team esp with players coming back, it is very early days, why the need for sarcastic comments? cant you just put your point across without the child like digs?
