| Quote pmarrow="pmarrow"Both those signings improve us and bring experience into the team. Newsflash, we are not going to sign 17 top class players over night. At the moment them young kids are getting battered and its not helping there development.
We are literally signing what is available to us at the moment like it or not. Players who can bring the ball out the backfield is a start, it might just stop us having to play an entire 80 minutes in our own half.
Rome wasnt built in a day.'"
you must be joking to think Briscoe and Chamberlain will improve us.
I hope Chamberlain is very short term but to give Briscoe an 18 month deal is crazy. His top level playing days are over, injuries catching up with him as they usually do at his age, plus he is not match fit having not played since round 3.
The problem is we are bin dipping for players.Clubs dont want to release players on loan and we are not an attractive proposition for players, thats why i think its better to go with what we have given we have seven players back shortly and concentrate our effort and available money into targets for next season.
We have players who can bring the ball out of backfield thay are called forwards and should be used a lot more than we do to do that job.
Of course we are not going to sign 17 quality players overnight thats why its important the club put their effort and money into players for next season.Sending Myler out to Australia for 2/3 weeks meeting agents face to face and talking to some players should be a priority.
Signing two or three average reserve players will not make any difference to our end of season league position or add any extra pay at the gate supporters so i dont see the point.
The only thing that will save this club is money to be able to add several quality players and a couple of real exciting names to get the fan base interested again in watching Hull FC

| I find the whole situation a but weird, surley the first conversation through the agent, allowed Rowley to say thanks but no thanks (i dont want to uproot my family). Rather than go through all the negotiation process with Rowley and Salford.
This happened with Watson and we made a huge error with the 2nd choice, absolute key that we don't make that error again.
Think it has to be an NRL assistant or out of work ex NRL coach.

| Yusuf Aydin signed on a 2 week loan, can't recall ever seeing him play.
Certainly getting some bodies in, be nice to be at least linked with some quality.

| Quote bonaire="bonaire"If its true that the club leaked the the interest in Rowley to the HDM and created the media frenzy in an effort to make a statement of intent then it was naive
Whether this was Myler or the club it still makes us look unprofessional.
Still dont understand signing more average players on loan deals when we have seven of our own players back shortly.Save the money and invest wisely for next season and bring in the quality we need..
Will Chamberlain and Briscoe make any difference whether we finish second bottom or third bottom the answer is no.
Will it bring in any more fans and the answer is no
If this is the club being proactive in player loans/recruitment then we are just bin dipping'"
I think Briscoe is a good acquisition- he’s available, willing, a reminder of good times, can bring out of backfield, and sets a standard. Think he may be good for the young backs and be a good spirit in camp. We cannot get the Bevan French’s so must be pragmatic. I think the ‘rebuild' for now should be via small bricks and having injured players return -this is a start. I think a big turn off for many potential new recruits is the pressure of being at Hull FC and the unforgiving fans we have. That said we have endured a lot in the last few seasons but we have to believe the club/players are trying

As he is under contract, I think the first approach, by the rules, has to be to the club. ‘Tapping up’ and all that.
As somebody new to the role, I think adhering strictly to the rules was a good choice by Myler. Maybe he’ll learn how to make informal, indirect soundings in the future. The issue really is that somebody blabbed when it was only just put in the oven.

| At the end of the day, none of this speculation has come from the club. Everything has played out on RL click bait and social media.
No one actually knows what was or wasn’t offered or discussed.
I’m just happy in the knowledge that change is coming and, reading between the lines, it’s on the back of incoming investment.

Unless Rowley has no agent..
Therefore they would have to approach Salford first.
We need to break the bank,in my opinion to get Wane, Maguire or Holbrook.
Signing a NRL assistant is a gamble, unless Myler can identify if the applicant has leadership and management skills in the interview.

Still seems to have gone too far and tool too long IMO.
Agree with the rest, need to make the right appointment, McNamara won't come, certainly not now after being 2nd choice. The also need to move pretty fast as the May deadline coming up and don't want to be behind other teams.

Indeed and that is exactly what I was thinking this time yesterday when the fee for Rowley was being reported.
Too many people putting 2+2 together and getting 5? No direct quotes from anyone?
No direct quotes from Rowley?
Just a statement from Salford saying our approach had been rejected and Rowley was committed to their project.

| Could this be Salford holding out for more money?
Obvs they want the best money they can get for him. So they reject the offer hoping we offer more, knowing we have investment coming in and are willing to offer more for him.
If we don't offer more, they get to keep their prize asset. If we do, they're quids in.
Look at Brodie croft, signs a 8 year deal then leaves, Dupree,l wants to leave , Salford say no,.reject offers then he leaves for higher price.
Just a thought

Could be and that was my thought yesterday?
But Rowley has more to lose than players although we haven’t had any direct quotes from him which I find quite strange?

Pretty concerned our preference is to target a domestic coach.
The coaches listed in the article I don't think would help.
Mcdermott. Just no. Strange and devisive individual.
Ward. Can't see him leaving Rovers, if he plays his cards right he could take over from Peters in a season or 2.
McGuire. Just can't see a Leeds legend and Rovers fan favourite and former coach working out.
I hope we go overseas tbh

| Clubs showed some serious ambition by targeting Rowley and willing to pay £££ to get him.
Issue now is, unless they go to Aus and bring someone like Briers or Holbrook in then it’s a massive disappointment.
Mylers come out swinging but if he’s got land someone abmbitious and then back it up with 2-3 decent signing

No, I’m not naive.
Either Myler has chosen to play a straighter bat, and been burned, or there’s been some form of misunderstanding.
Who knows, this time yesterday it looked nailed on. By the end the day it appeared to be dead in the water. When I’m back online this afternoon/evening, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another twist.

Yeah me too, think there is more to this than meets the eye.
Whatever happens, I'd doubt Rowley will be at Salford in a years time.

| I'd be amazed if Myler doesn't give Briers a call, if he hasn't already to discuss the job here. Briers clearly knows super league and has been serving an apprenticeship for a while now. He sounds ambitious, whether he's right fit for us or us for him, who knows. Think we all know what type of character he is, as he always gave his best out there on the pitch.

| I’m afraid to agree as a poster previously said “FC is a poisoned chalice “ The club won’t attract coaches who can’t face building a club root and branch from the bottom. Maybe that’s why Rowley knocked us back. IMO the only coach who could do that and has previously done it is Maguire. I’m sick of the title “sleeping giant” and “massive club” it’s BS. we’ve had 2 periods of sustained success, late 50’s/early 60’s and obviously 1979/1985, other than that blip. The club failed miserably 2016/17, yes back to back Wembley wins for which I’ll be eternally grateful but we massively under achieved, it should have been back to back clean sweeps but Radford allowed the team to switch off each season after the cup wins. Myler’s biggest job is getting the right coach, someone who wants and feels like he can rebuild this terribly stagnant club, other than Wane, I don’t think there’s a domestic coach capable of the massive task in hand. Has to be a proven Aussie coach but who??? I’m at a loss, I just hope Myler gets it right, fan speculation isn’t helping matters
