| Quote barham red="barham red"That'll be Leeds then. We saw pretty much the same headlines before signing for you a couple of years ago.
It may be a big U-Turn but is it any bigger than him saying the deal was done with you was just a case of signing. Great player but seems to lack a bit of credibility in what he says.'"
Was he ever quoted in the media saying he was going back to the NRL, or was it wishful thinking from your fans when linked with Hull?

Injury prone? You sure you have the right player and not his brother Jonathon.
2013 27 games

2015 14 games from 15.
He's currently sidelined suffering a broken cheekbone/eye socket and was an ever present till Friday. Hardly say it was his body breaking down though

I don't see anywhere on there were he claimed to be going to the NRL, so quite a bit of difference to this situation and not similar at all.

Think he has the wrong player, decent player is Walker, but not that much better than we will have for next year, he would get into our 17, but not worth spending a transfer fee on, as we have other positions that we need to prioritise.

He'd be the first prop on my team sheet every week, He's been immense so far this season for us gutted he's going to miss the next 6 weeks.

He definitely said he was going to try his hand in the NRL which forced hudgell to come out in HDM with the headline "don't take the mickey"
hudgell stating that he wouldn't have rovers fans lied to and he wasn't going to NRL but had signed for hull

It was, there was a thread on here about Hudge forcing FC to announce the signing at the time as up til that point it was always stated he was 'going home'.
Very similar stories as there have been today despite all quotes from MP were that he was happy and would sign his contract with you.

| All those quotes say is that Paea would consider the NRL when he was at Rovers, not one of them says that he is is going back to the NRL.
Compare this to this
"However, they have known and understand that my family and I had aspirations to return home and for me as a player to test myself in the NRL again and have waited patiently for me to make my decision, without any added pressure.
"There is no doubt that the only other place I would have signed would have been Hull had I stayed in England. I love the club, the people here and would like to thank everyone who has made it such a great experience for me, including my team mates, the staff and the fans."

| Really disappointing news which takes the shine off the taylor signing for me. Leaves us weaker in the front row that I was expecting. ellis is OK at prop but he's a workhorse, not an impact payer. We'll really miss paea

| Very disappointing news but this was looking more and more likely.
Good luck to him for the future, I'm sure he'll give his all for the rest of the season and he'll be leaving one Hull club at least on good terms.

| Is Paea an impact player, he just drives hard and makes good yards, exactly what Taylor does, but with more minutes and better defence?

| Disappointed, but a fairly even swap with Taylor coming in. Would have liked to see both, but never mind.
Wouldn't mind replacing Paleaaesina with a tackle-buster who can play longer now. Depends on Thompson's long-term position.

| Disappointed to be losing Paea as this season he has for me not only been a stand out performer for us as a club but in terms of SL in general too as the form prop.
I would hope we would look to replace Paea with another player similar to him as Taylor will have been an addition to the forwards not just a replacement. So a like for like replacement for Paea is a must.

| Losing Paea is a big blow. If we had him, Taylor and Watts we would have 3 of the best props in SL.
I can't criticise him for wanting to take the family back home and play first grade NRL. He's been great for us and I hope his form continues for the rest of the season.
It leaves us with 2 very good starting props in Watts and Taylor but the back up is not so good. I'm assuming Feka will be released and Ellis will move up to prop but as has been said he is a work horse and seems to be picking up more and more injuries.
If you add Green and Bowden together they probably make one decent prop.
I really like Thompson but I'm not convinced he is a prop.
I haven't seen enough of BTW to judge him.
So, do we need another prop?

I'd say so. The club had already signed Taylor and still attempted to re-sign Paea so I'd expect us to bring someone else in.

Reckon so as well.
Massive blow to lose Paea, but wish him and his family all the best. I am sure he will do well in the NRL. Hope we can send him off with a bang rather than a whimper

| Obviously disappointing to hear Paea is leaving as he has been one of our best players. Understandable that he wants to try his hand in the NRL and I join everyone else in wishing him and his family well.

| Thompson is never a prop in a month of Sunday's, nor should we attempt to 'convert' him into one, Ellis I'm not so sure that we would get the best out of him at prop anyway and in any case we need to consider replacing him come 2017 anyway.
Green needs to improve his consistency but isn't so bad considering his age, Bowden is ideal as a squad prop and I think his lack of game time shows, BTW also desperately needs game time so he can show us what he's got.
All well and good talking about signing another prop but if we aren't even giving our home grown young props game time to get them into the fold then we will always struggle to have enough cap space to have a quality balanced side.
