| Quote Irregular Hoops="Irregular Hoops"I think the Dobbins (team and supporters) turned up expecting the win and got a bit of a shock. Think they’d started to believe Sky’s BS hype.
We neutralised their second phase attack, and they didn’t know what to do when it didn’t work. I was confident we could score whenever we got down their end.
Their MO is to score a lot of early points and hang in for the win, but in all honesty they were never truly in the game. They only reason why they had a sniff Is because they got every decision. It would have been a travesty if they’d pinched it.
It wasn’t even one of our best performances, but it was good enough to make the great unwashed pipe down a bit, so that will do for me.'"
After watching the game back and seeing the 3 decisions of no try I can’t understand why all 3 were ruled out. The first one it’s clear to me that swift pats the ball and it goes backwards irrelevant of were Swift ends up as the angle in line with the goal line shows the ball does not go forward, so a clear legal try. The second one that Carlos scores is again a try and given the ref sent it up as a try for Thaler to over rule is farcical. Reynolds is not obstructing and makes no attempt to collide with Kenny-Dowell and he isn’t even looking. Kenny-Dowell knows he’s beaten so deliberately alters his angle and runs into Reynolds in the hope of milking the decision which sadly worked due to Moore & Thalers incompetence. The 3rd one is the only one I’d agree was probably the right call. I’d also question why Moore felt the tip tackle by Linnett on Lane was legal when he lifted Lanes legs clearly above the horizontal and above the waist. The other two that begs a question was when Carlos played the ball legally and a rovers player stuck his foot in the way yet Moore allowed play on then for some reason called it back as a knock on which it wasn’t. The second one was the ball steal by Parcel on Fash which shows that Lawler still has a hand on Fash so effectively there are two in the tackle end. The ball is stripped.
It was also noticeable the amount of times Rovers backs were in front of the kicker Moore ignored that.
So all in all I thought we dug in and deservedly won a game that was tighter than it really should have been.

I don't like to criticise the referee because it's such a difficult job and also due to being accused of sour grapes if we lose but there's no excuse for the video ref overruling those tries. In fact I've noticed in a few televised games this season that Rovers always seem to get the benefit of close calls.

| Loved this epic game which marked the 75th anniversary of the first year I saw a derby. Great to watch it live on TV too- it finished here after 2 am. A tribute to both teams for the effort put into the game and for both sets of fans who created such a magnificent atmosphere.Wish I could have been there to experience the occasion. My sister and a host of other family members were there to make up for my absence!
Sad to see that Cyril Sykes had died as he was part of the greatest pack of forwards that I have ever seen play, put together by Roy Francis back in the 50's.
Only Johnny Whiteley left from that era.
RIP Cyril.

| The game has been going downhill slowly, and thanks to a very entertaining derby game on Saturday, it's certainly turned it back the other way a bit. Well done to both clubs. I really enjoyed it.

| Come on Chris how could you not of enjoyed that haha!! Was very tense, my lad and daughter loved it, said best game they've been too.
The trys getting disallowed were frustrating, but that's just the poor standard of officials were lumbered with. The game itself was brilliant, apart from a 15 min spell in the first half I thought we looked dangerous every time we attacked.
Huge 2 points and sets us up nicely for Cas, a depleted Leeds side who have injury to key players Hurrell, Gale, Oledski etc and a Wigan team I feel we can beat. Throw in Salford and Wakefield which will be gritty and I think we can do it.
Put Fash to loose forward with Lane, for Cator, same workrate in defense, and simar in go forward.
Reynolds I think may not be serious fingers crossed, if so Mcnamara in who was decent again at Catalans. Crucial we just get him receiving the ball off sneyd, committing a defender then releasing Connor to work his magic.
I noticed when Wynne came in for Connor we had trouble getting to replicate Connors attacking as in when to chime into the line, the young lads need to be stepping up and watching how the likes of reynolds and Connor do it.

Honestly RR I didn't enjoy it until Sunday when the relief gave way to the enjoyment. I think due to the tension and the way we weren't getting any of the decisions etc it was just relief I felt at the end. Having watched the game back on tv i then enjoyed it

Totally agree as the injection of Connor in the line was huge and he improves us so much as an attacking threat and he showed in the first 5 minutes just what we've missed while he's been injured. The link up play with Connor, Sneyd and Reynolds was pivotal in winning the derby.
I thought Shaul also made an impact when he came on and I'd like to see him spelling with Houghton on Thursday to inject pace down the middle when the Cas defensively line are tiring.
If Reynolds is missing then Ben McNamara comes in.
