| Just finished watching - my my I must be watching too much Storm because i thought FC were awful.
We can’t pin a team in their own half for more than one set
A mark of a team is being able to stop a side at the half way for 4-5 sets on the trot
We are nowhere near that
awful handling - awful discipline
lazy in defence on too many occasions
BH may be a nice guy but he’s no rugby disciplinarian
As the other poster said - we can’t beat the Top 4 and that’s why we don’t finish Top 4

| Happy to call it out as discipline separates Champion teams
We may as well have lost by 20 I suppose because we lost
Gallant defeats are the hallmark of FC for years inc that incredibly stupid loss to Leeds in the GF semi final when Cas were awaiting the winner.
We spend all season ‘hoping’ rather than ‘knowing’
We are a LONG way off the WCC and we’ve trying to be a GF winning side for 20 years + and still no nearer

| Lovodua take a bow nearly single handedly won us it
Wigan are nothing special as said before the match just crucial errors was the difference
But God Jake Connor come on that effort on field was pathetic for the last try
Can we really have a "full back" who can't tackle at full back

| We pinched one I didn’t really feel we deserved there tonight. We started brightly but Hull wrestled control of the game and it felt at the game like you guys were going to get the win. Our young forwards were gutsy against the likes of Satae, Sao and Manu, with Havard and Byrne putting in a good shift.
Fair play to the Hull fans who travelled. We’re doing people no favours charging £30 an adult ticket but that was a good following on a Thursday night.

no doubt you will get the usual negative comments for criticising the team but you are certainly correct about on field discipline or lack off.
Its the clubs achilles heel and makes winning games so much more difficult yet whilst Hodgson recognises the problem nothing changes.
Until this changes and the players stop putting pressure on themselves by having to defend a lot more than they should all the effort they put into the match is wasted irrespective of fitness

My interest is winning and looking at why we lost the game rather than the tries we scored.
We have proved that we can score tries and some very good tries but until the clubs on field discipline improves and the players concentrate for the full 80 minutes then this type of tight game with a lot of effort but end up with a defeat will become the norm

| Great effort from the lads tonight, a little disappointed in some of Gales decision making at really crucial times, poor kick choices, contributing to our loss, he’s probably a bit rusty so will forgive him.
Thought we had the points, and looked the better team Savelio and Joe superb, there’s a team in their that’s for sure, Wigan did well to pinch it. What a player Field is, lightning fast and a match winner.
We’ve got some quality still missing Carlos Tag, Evans etc, not really sure we’re Reynolds fits in to be honest, he needs to seriously up his game.
As the old adage goes there’s no substitute for pace, and that was true tonight, top class stand off, and a strike centre and we’d be amongst the best. Great support from the Hull supporters tonight, getting home at stupid o’clock on a Friday morning.

| Very gallant effort by the team last night....
I don't understand the selection of Jordan Johnstone,as interchange.
Our bench selection , for mine, is unbalanced.
Fash, IMO, is a backrower, Brown prop, JJ hooker, Wynne Utility back.
We are missing impact from the bench. I personally thought Bowden would've been a better choice than JJ, he's played well so far this season.
Going forward it will be interesting to see IF Hodgson continues to persevere with Johnstone as a substitute.

First time I have watched Lovodua in a match and he impressed. Cannot blame him for the Field try as he has little experience as an edge defender against speedy backs. Wonder what Wayne thought as Field ran past Connor?
Quite satisfied with our performance overall as we will build on that.
A special mention about Griffin for his PTB's. Will now add him to my very tiny list of players in SL who follow the rule correctly by playing the ball back with the foot on every occasion. Welsby is still the gold standard though.

| The one that got away! We had that game won, with some proper game management we'd have been okay but fair play to everyone, they had a good dig, but I couldn't help feeling annoyed that we lost this. Field aside, they weren't that great , although Farrell had the nous to make that run to set up Smith's drop goal to win it. Think Jake and Gale looked a bit clunky, which is to be expected but what a find Lover is! I honestly do not see how Josh Reynolds improves the team at the moment and I am not sure he'll add anything if he is fit, but Hodgson decides that one , thankfully.

He gets rounded nearly everytime a player breaks the line
The alarm bells should of rang the second he couldn't get near Liam farrell last season for exiles!
Players break the line that's why the full back is there to make the cover/last ditch tackles
Was a decent performance and wasn't much between the sides but we should of won it

| Looking at the stats, far too much work done by the backs, Satae 5 drives is shocking.
Still fail to see what Johnstone brings, offers so little go forward, surely Bowden offers more.

In the first half there were a few sets when I don't think a prop touched the ball which I found odd. I noticed Satae doing more tackling in his first stint then carrying the ball.

5 drives? Jeez! He was doing alot of work in defence was Satae, we need more runs on the board from him.
I know what you mean about JJ. He doesn't let anyone down, but is just 'there'. I'd assume Cator was going to be used to take over his role, but his injury happened.

| Happy with the effort in what was a very even game, it really could of gone either way.
Lovodua has been some find, he has the potential to make that number 6 shirt his own the way he’s playing. I also thought Gale did okay, nothing special, but after a disrupted start to his time here he will be fine with a good run of games under his belt.
I will be honest, after the way we ended last season, I had some serious doubts at the start of this year. But credit to the team, sure we’ve not been perfect, and we’ve got a long way to go. But there is clear improvement in not only our style of play, but our application to the game both attacking and defensively. Roll on the Quarter final.
On a side note, how does a stadium in Wigan run out of pies?! Wounded

I said that in the first half Dave, I think I counted 2 carries by Satae in the first half so be curious to know why we employed the tactic of overworking the backs to continually carry the ball as it just drained the tank. Had we used the forwards and had them up in to double figures in carries Wigan even with Field would have struggled to contain our go forward and would have sucked their energy, instead we just did it to ourselves. When Fash and Brown came on they helped get us momentum with their carries and work rate. Thought Sao and Mau were the two for me that really ran it in with intent everytime.
The pack is our biggest strength and against Wigan we should really have used that to our advantage, but we seemingly chose to hamper ourselves and the bench selection another area were we did ourselves no favours and then only playing 16.

I may not watch as much NRL as you, but one of the features I like about it is the speed of the game, and the two referees contribute to this by 'policing' the offside at the PTB. This results, as far as I can see, in teams hardly ever being pinned in their own half for more than a couple of sets.

Yes. We beat Wigan in the Cup last year and Warrington in the 2020 play offs, of course, but in the weekly rounds since that excellent 50-10 win away at Catalans in June 2019 we have gone, Warrington (at Leeds) L
2021 Warrigton (H) D, Wigan (A) L, Catalans (H) L, Saints (A) L, Saints (H) L, Catalans (A) L, Wigan (H) L
2022 Saints (H) L, Wigan (A) L
