Green did an interview in the Viking FM bar before the Bradford game and was there because Donny had no game but he is very tall and big and already looks as if he is ready for 1st team. I'd give him a go next season definately.

I would find a new prop/backrow this way and use the quota spots for fullback, centre (unless Gleeson signs) and the halves.

But that's the problem, we're naff at spotting young talent, we have to wait until everyone knows the young kid has it and then pay a fee a la Westerman.

Bowen is and has been a quality player, has had some pretty bad injuries in his career.

we've got to start playing some of these kids, or we'll always be wondernig "what if".



Could Aldous seriously offer us less than Dowes?

Exactly, we know what the likes of Dowes can offer, put a kid in the mix and let him prove himself.

I'm not ragging Dowes, he actually had a few decent stints early season, but he knows he's not going to be here next season, he knows he'll end up at Widnes or somewhere similar if he stays in SL at all, whereas Aldous (or any of the other young kids) know that this is there big chance to shine, OK they might be too enthusiastic and make errors, but they'll learn.



People lauded the signing of Fitz, O'Meley and Long because of the experience they could hand on to the yournsters, what better way than actually travelling and playing alongside them?

Dowes is doing ok and doing his job, but I would like to see the kids doing more OK and showing off all they have learned. Like you say, it's no good having experienced professionals to train the youngsters if we don't see their outcomes as a player.

I'd love to have details of what mentoring goes on at FC, do Fitzgibbon and O'Meley work with the U20's forwards specifically, is Long involved with the young halves etc.



I know some people go down to training but that isn't an option for me, getting to games at all is enough hassle.

Maybe you should go to training [iinstead[/i of the games. We're always hot in training.

I have seen them in training and the younger players mix in with all the drills/line work as much as the first team players do. I'll be honest, their training does look good. But as far as the mentoring is concerned, I wouldn't know.

The sad thing is some people clearly do not understand you can be great in training, but the proof is when you are up against opposition.
