Galea signs a one year deal with Hull FC

A risky signing given his age but I feel better about this after the news that Tickle is staying. Galea brings plenty of experience and hopefully the fans will get beind him.

Good signing for a year and bring a massive amount of experience to the side.

No problem with this, if, as I said when it was rumoured, it's a Radford style signing. A squad player, in a coaching/mentoring role playing when needed. Clearly he wants to play, but the value of his experience is just as important?

I'm a little indifferent about this signing, mainly because it says to me that Whitehead/Bateman are not coming and we may have missed out on other big signings.



However, I think that we're all learning to trust implicitly Gentle's judgement on these things as has been very much proven with the Goldie, Aspinwall, Pitts etc. signings.

Problem is, the Bateman/Whithead signings may have been dependent on their situation, which is looking more secure by the day. AP has promised to spend money but he cant be held to ransom and the money been talked about for Bateman was very excessive for such an inexperienced young player.



If Tickle does stay I am not sure that Galea is needed, but if he stays fit he will be a very useful signing for a year, on and off the field.

If it's at the expense of O'Meley being given another year than I'm disappointed.

How many injuries are we expecting, I just don't see where he'll fit in

As with every signing now I have the attitude of I won't pre-judge. As proven a few times this season PG is coach for a reason.



Also on a side note I see Scott Taylor gave Ben a special mention on twitter last night as I assume Ben never got any recognition from HKR at their end of year awards and changed his profile pic to him with Ben. So I think Ben may have a point to prove to NH and Sandercock.

Happy with this signing. Bags of experience, great hands and runs good lines. Will also help the young players at the club. He should also improve our ability to get the ball.wide a bit quicker.

hope we do give the ogre another contract,afterall,if we can give galea one who is 3 years older than the ogre,and never played for fc,i know who i prefer.this is only my personal opinion.

in normal circumstances if Agar had signed him I would have been very critical but I have been proved wrong three times this season with Gentles signings (Martin, McGoldrick and Aspinwall and I wondered a bit about Watts' attitude too) so I'll trust in his judgement because lets face it, whatever the length of his contract Peter knows his job will be on the line along with everyone elses, if we don't make the progress that Pearson demands.

Another experienced head to guide our young guns in their development. I'm sure that we'd not have signed him unless he fitted in to PGs master plan.

Every (most) players sign for a club because of money.

Some are less obvious than others.

Every faith in all that PG does. Don`t forget that Andy Hay also has an input along with Sean Mac. These signings have been talked about long and hard over the season. Galea was on our radar years ago when Steve Crooks was still here. Time will tell but an astute signing all the same. Gonna prove a thing or two to the Dwarf next season of that there is no doubt. Three derby victories on the horizon I reckon and consolidate our place in the top six by a place or two.

Good player but disappointing that we have obviously missed out on other signings and the guy will be 35 when he is with us and an overseas player. Can see him missing a big chunk of the season with injuries so hope we haven't paid the reported £100k for him



Have to say that I don't think next season's side will turn out to be as strong as I thought it might be a few weeks ago as we seem to have missed out on some key targets - paea, bateman, whitehead and maybe chase

Tickle and Galea at the moment are better backrow forwards than Bateman and Whitehead.



Longer term they will be better, but we will be stronger next season with these two than the two you have mentioned.



Also if we keep O Meley, losing out of Paea isnt so bad.



It give the club another year to replace these players internally or externally.

Having 2 injuries at once would hardly be a huge shock, we just need to make sure it doesn't become a crisis again.



Good signing IMO, some of the lines he runs in attack are outstanding.

Direct replacement for Aspinwall who is moving on ?

If he can stay fit and we got him on a similar wage, then even though Aspinwall has done a good job, Galea is an upgrade.

A total waste of salary cap and pointless signing. Almost 35, injury prone and overweight.

Don't understand this injury prone talk, he played 17 games this year and only missed the first 9 games with one injury, only missed one other game this year. A long with the fact he has played well over 20 games the previous 7 years in SL and the NRl, shows he not an injury prone player.



Joe Westerman has played less games than him this year, is he injury prone?

A solid signing for us. Experienced, defensively as hard as nails (and our centres do need some help in that way), a very good leader and will work his backend off.



A one year deal is right - and maybe he will show the way to roll out the Welcome to Hull sign for his buddy and former team mate who is coming out of contract next season.
