UllFC: One thing is certain we are so so lucky to have found our new owners. You can tell Thirkhill lives and breathes RL.
Just imagine the stress levels if we had a mystery new swiss banker as owner and players not being paid after the horrors of last season!
absolutely agree we are so lucky to have escaped a similar fate and the turmoil at the top of the rl continues with more resignations. I doubt Tony Sutton can survive much longer then DM will have his way and Wood him and Hetherington will take over. I'm not sure that's a receipt for stability!! What a mess
Definitely agree about having Thirkill and Hood as our owners even more so given Thirkills love he has and his history in the game of RL. That’s one thing that Adam certainly got right and should rightly live long in the history of a great custodian of this great club.
As for Salford I really feel for the fans and staff affected by the constant circus of uncertainty however tue same can’t be said for the directors, CEO’s etc involved pre/post takeover at Salford.
All they have done is treat the whole sport, the fans of their club and of the game of RL along with their staff & players and all the teams and stakeholders in the game with total and utter contempt. The silence and lack of communication, information or transparency from those involved at Salford is nothing more than total ignorance for the situation they themselves have got the club in.
The RFL under Johnson & Sutton have been very weak on governance in not making/taking the tough decisions and action that’s needed.
Almost everyone in and around the game has suspected it’s all been smoke and mirrors from the start and there’s very little evidence to dispute that.
All that can be said with a fair degree of clarity is that the whole saga has been more than detrimental to a sport that needed this season to be spoken about for the right reasons but yet again it is sadly for all the wrong reasons.

Jake the Peg: I reckon rovers after Mcdonald, move hiku to fb
Is McDonald exempt from the overseas quota?
As far as I'm aware the RFL haven't mentioned anything regarding cap or quota with salford.
Maybe Rovers will try and bribe big Nige with all you can eat at the burger van end.
It was never made official but apparently the clubs voted (including Salford) to grant exemptions for quota players for a year. The reason it never happened was Salford simply refused to sell anyone. If any exemptions were voided when they lifted the restrictions for a week is anyone’s guess. If Salford say they need to sell a couple of high earning players to balance the books I’d imagine they’ll allow exemptions.
