Quote ="WIZEB"The demonisation of Radford continues unabated.
Like I've said previously, let's see how we look back in ten years when the trophy cabinet keys have gone rusty, and are hidden in the corner, third drawer down.'"
And if the coach and indeed club as a whole had done better with the talent and money we had in the last 6 years do you not think that the future might have been a bit more rosy in terms of potential to get the cabinet having something in it?
That's not dissimilar to what happened with Bunting, huge investment in players, won a couple of big trophies and then we fizzled out, at least with Bunting we didn't get walloped as we have under Radford, coaches have their limits, but if you get a great squad in, get some luck injury wise (Saints had that in droves in recent times) and win a few games on the bounce you can look fantastic and win some silverware, but it doesn't make you a great coach.
Would you not agree that just the 2 CC wins are a bit of a disappointment on the back of what the owner put in and the personnel we had over the last 6 years, add into which the last 2 1/4 seasons, cutting back the squad for various cap/player contract reasons, more big investments and out the play-offs the last two seasons?
It's the highs and the huge lows that follow that make you question Radford's coaching ability.
Lee can be happy with what he achieved, and what he, the players and all the staff involved gave us, we can't forget those highs, but as fans we should have expected more from the squad/investment, not necessarily that we were going to win trophies every year, but actually put us on a bit more of a level pegging with other big clubs.
We should have an expectation that the coach should do better in how he coached tactics, how he handled players, both top earners and youngsters (including personal spats), to how he managed the back room stuff, to the youth system, and most of all not getting drummed several times over to the point of record defeats
That negative stuff is an equal part of Lee's legacy.
But we have to move forward and to go forward thinking we won't win anything in ten years is just silly really.
