If they just deleted comments that were off topic it would soon stop the idiots. I must admit to chuckling at times at some of the comments though.

If its any consolation, we have just the same problem on our local paper's equivilent - what I call the "T&A Rantaboard". Its driven the majority of responsible posters away, and those who are responsible that DO post on there tend not to post on RLFans. We also have one or two [iagents provocateur[/i - including the odd name that, if known, would probably shock a few people. Usually best avoided, tbh.

I am always surprised when they allow comments on any story involving Colin Inglis. It is usually at best three posts before something libellous is posted.



They put a story in abit ago about him not using the Lord Mayors electric car or something and some of the comments posted left me looking almost identical to this

The sports comments are just purile, they make this place look like the Oxford debating society. The news pages comments sometimes can be amusing, I think the HDM deliberately trolls their users with stories about ASBO kids and the like, I always have a bet with myself how many comments I think those stories will get. The one time, when my daughters school went into special measures there was a really good discussion about between parents I found productive, then someone mentioned the s and they deleted all the comments and closed it
