Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. If you are having problems logging in, please try a different browser or platform, if problems persist then email support@rlfans.com

Quote ="PAUL M"Still don't get it, he is a winger so I don't understand why people want to turn him in to something ">else.'"
While I agree that moving him while he is establishing himself as a top class winger would be a bad move at the moment, I really don't see how you can pidgeon hole him as a winger, if the OP is correct he played his junior rugby at fullback, right up until he played first team he played at centre for Hull, and the coaching staff have said on numerous occasions they see him as a centre. I imagine if Briscoe played fullback his kick returns would be excellent, and having more time on the ball and in broken play would suit his game, I wouldn't rule him out playing fullback in the future. Slater, Hayne and Minnichello all played wing at various levels earlier in there careers before fullback.

He may well play centre at some stage, maybe in 2/3 years when he matures a bit more. He does not handle the high ball very well so I would not play him there.

You mean the same way insist on playing Fitz at prop even though he has played most of his career as a 13 and he still says his best position is 13?

We play Fitz at 13 but just use him like a prop. He is best at prop these days or in the second row, 13 is the last place I would choose to play him.

Fitzgibbon's played most of his career in the 2nd row hasn't he? Moved to 13 as a 3rd prop in recent years as he's slowed down. I've never seen him play as a 'proper' 13, and I don't personally think he can.
