Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. If you are having problems logging in, please try a different browser or platform, if problems persist then email support@rlfans.com

| Karen too true that we've seen better and worse, but I'm puzzled over Darkside Dave's choice of name!! Thought anyone admitting to The Darkside would have supported the Robins and not the Airlies....any clues Dave?
Regards to Howard Karen and love to bairns -are they still playing for one of the amateur clubs?.....grannyfan Cindy

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"Their income last year was £4.6m. I know the directors get nothing because it states in the accounts - directors emoluments: Nil. Saints was £4.9m and they lost £900k.'"
What was our income for the same period?
wigan will still have people in the positions we have appointed as directors e.g. an accountant rather than an FD, plus I'll bet they spend significantly more on their coacing staff and youth set up than we do
saints have the massive burden of kr round their necks in those accounts, plus a big debt they are servicing. Once in their new ground they'll be profitable at that level of turnover
What was wires turnover and profit figure for the same period?
It's an interesting debate but without seeing the detailed accounts we don't know the answer do we?

Indeed not. Yet this doesn't seem to stop you continually implying/claiming that the directors are taking big salaries out of the club. And therefore I can counter with an opinion that our relatively strong level of profitability in a year we finished 12th and went out to Salford in the first round of the cup might indicate otherwise.

I'd counter it with the fact that I doubt we saw much drop in income, if any. I'm not saying the directors are taking big salaries, just that it's a possibility. I thought we made £70k last year? Hardly a "strong" level of profit on £5m turnover (although obviously better than a loss before you come back with a predictable response)

What, the loss we would have made had the directors taken big salaries out of the club, you mean? www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif" alt=" icon_wink.gif" title="Wink" /> www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif" alt=" icon_lol.gif" title="Laughing" />
Our best year of profit in recent years was when we won the CC, plus a decent year in 2008 IIRC. The value of getting to finals financially shouldn't be underestimated. Warrington turned in a profit last year (loss making the year before) off the back of a Wembley trip. Saints blamed a major part of their YOY worsening profit on failing to get to Wembley again. So success in the cup at least does have a significant impact on the bottom line, which by default means that finishing 12th and being dumped out of the cup v Salford but remaining in profit is a decent result.

I agree, it is a decent result. The fact is the club have an income of somewhere around £5m. Their 3 biggest costs (players, stadium and shop supplies) probably come in somewhere around £2.6-£2.8m, which leaves £2m+ being spent somewhere else. Sounds like a lot to me
