A number of NRL clubs have had more than 1 captain for several years. The most common set up is teams having 1 club captain, 1 backs captain and 1 forwards captain. I personally wouldn't have a problem with that set up, but the one suggested by Wigan is a bit of a joke imo.
I did watch an NRL game last season where one team (think it was wests, but not 100% sure) had 5 captains on the pitch, the 3 I mentioned above, plus 1 attacking and 1 defensive captain.
