I wonder what position Hampshire is being lined up for. Strange signing given what we’ve already got.

Been that we have been in the market for a half, and Hampshire has played in the half`s most of his career i would guess if we are looking at him it is for cover in that position. At the moment should one of Finn or Miller pick up an injury, which is likely to happen at some point in the season, then we would have to either disrupt the squad by having Randell fill in there or play youth in Ackroyd.

Wood can also play halfback so it's not that bad. If we sign him I assume it's as a replacement for Finn when he eventually retires.

Isn’t the lad sick of playing second fiddle ? Surely he needs to be starting games regularly to realise any potential he must have. I’m not so sure he’ll get many chances with WT this season at least.

Would imagine Hampshire, if he comes, would be filling in in the halves initially, with a view to stepping up permanently.



Given that Finn has played all but one game, I think, in the past two seasons, and a world cup this year too, you have to wonder how much energy he has left. He will be 34 come the end of next season.



At some point you feel the guy needs a break.



Wouldn't be surprised, if we do bring someone in, or use Ackroyd, if they show good signs early on, whether in friendlies, or early super league rounds. that that player features quite a bit this year.

Don't see it as second fiddle, but there can't be to many GOOD teams where he'd walk straight in and take the 6 or 7 shirt. Wants to play for a good team he'll have to take his chances.

I’d have thought he’d rather seal a position in a top championship club, get regular game time and take it from there. Finn never gets injured and he’d never push Miller out of the squad. I suppose if you’re getting paid decent money to be a bit part player then that’s up to him. If it’s a 3 year deal then I can see the logic but anything less would be pointless IMO.

Again why is he a bit part player - why assume Finn won't get injured - why assume Miller won't get dropped - it no different to Williams last year, had Williams been a bit more effective he could have easily dislodged Miller or Finn he had plenty of chances. I get what you're saying but it's not logical imho.

Agree with you that you can't assume anything, especially with a game like RL and injuries, plus players form. But I'd say the difference between Williams and Hampshire is that Williams had looked a good halfback in the NRL, while so far Hampshire hasn't at any Club in SL. I think most of us, especially those that had seen Wiliams play thought he'd have been first choice and maybe stopped another year if it had gone well, but alas it didn't work for whatever reason and we certainly didn't see the best of him, just glimpses.

Well MC made some comment to do with O2 and him being in Aus, so I pressume he's been talking wth him or his agent. Wil be something to get people talking about again if he signs, because he could be a cracking player for us.

The front row is our real strength so bringing Pauli in will add a lot to the team.

I don't really know much about him though. Big lad and starting in NRL is a good start.

He's a massive gamble as Fifita was. However if he pays off stays fit and motivated I personally think he's potentially the better player.



Far more experienced than Dave, bigger and a better athlete. However as Jarrod Hickey proved, you can't always get that back in a player.



Big risk but possibly a massive reward.
