I have no idea where they are RE PLANNING as all the comments made by both clubs and are pretty cryptic.
You cannot hide behind the money from the council arguement as both the grounds to some extent will rely on =#FF0000some public money whether that is related to infrastructure, sharing joint facilities or advance payments for feasability studies.
Neither club has the £10 to £20m ready cash to invest. they are relying on Private capital ( not much around and no one will invest whilst there are uncertainties about the economy whether that is in houses or hotels or leisure facilities). Even if a private investor came forward how long would it take to pay the money back.
Anyway that is all i am going to post on it but IMHO a ground share is the only way to go now. 3 years ago the situation was different but not at the minute and will be unlikely for the next 3 years.

Private investment is partially behind the Newmarket development. If planning permission is granted then the funding package will be triggered to construct the stadium, offices, units and the surrounding infrastructure. The council have contributed by loaning land they can not afford to develop to the Community Trust so the trust can use this as a guarantee to raise capital to go towards the building costs.

| I reckon some of you are being harsh on DG - I think the overall feeling I get is that people are frustrated by our situation and many genuinely want us to have the facilities to remain in SL - so back off a little please and just explain the issue!
There will be cut-backs, but where DG is not informed are 2 points:
1 The funding is secured against loans secured against council owned development land - i.e. there is no cash exchange involved and, as a loan, it will eventually be due for pay back.
2 There is a difference between capital and revenue funding - therefore, whilst there may be job cuts, it doesn't mean the councils can't still spend money on new or replacement assetts.
Further points for DG:
3 Castleford have not made their proposal available to Trinity.
4 Trinity's proposal is a Community Stadium - therefore available to all.
5 Yorcourt have agreed to finance the build as they will be under contract to build the stadium before any further development can be made. This was the big mistake made when the deal was done for Glasshoughton and, perhaps, it is something that we have gained from based on the Cas experience.
Thank you for taking an interest in what we are doing, but let's be patient and await the outcome of the outline PP.

| Quote Prince Buster="Prince Buster"This is my take on what will happen.
RW at Cas has got his plot of land and also got outline planning. What is holding him back is that he has no money to build it. I suppose if money can be obtained then its plain sailing for him but at the moment it is highly unlikely he will get the funding he needs in the short to medium term and that is too late.
Newmarket will be a community stadium and he knows he can go there if he wants. However he knows his fans would lynch him if he did. He also realises Newmarket also has to overcome the planning hurdle. What he is doing is sittiing tight and stringing his fans along to see what develops. If we get planning at Newmarket he will realise the game is up and he will have to decide what to do. When that time comes I believe he will come on board with us and blame someone else for having to move, most likely the council for not backing him financially. He will also announce the move as short term only whilst the economic climate improves. He will tell the fans that Glasshoughton is not dead and one day they will play there. I think most reasonable Cas fans may not like it but will accept it.

| If all the bickering from the Cas Wakey fans isnt enough to send you to sleep, we now have somebody from the midgets board whats definately in the know according to him, that is having his 2 penneth on the subject. Thanks for that, no really. If it ever comes down to it when a merger is on the cards with Cas please look us up as your club could give us a good insight in how to shaft the other party, on behalf of the Wakey fans' I would like thank you for the concern and advice offered but I personally will put my faith in the people what know what they are talking about.

Yes I Know about the keepmoat and RW has set it up for a move if needs must. The fact that he has done this surely indicates he can't get Glasshoughton started. Infact I really hope you move to keepmoat and leave newmarket to us.

Why would you need a back up plan if everything is in place?

To be fair the lack of a plan B with respect to facilities was one of the criticisms of Trinity's bid last time around, not sure if it was mentioned on the Cas summary but it pays to ensure that a back up plan is in place.

Because anything can happen. Not having a back-up for Thornes nearly cost you lot last time. What happens if YOURS falls through? You've already sold Belle Vue and you'll have to find yet another site.

that's fair enough, however we've had a number of false dawns , where we've seen press releases and ultimately been let down. On this occasion the club and the developer have quite rightly in my opinion decided to keep calm and keep quiet until something solid can be said.

| Why would we get "updates" during the planning permission stage from the club, the only "updates" you get are from statutory responces, and none have objected out right. In fact Natural England first was glowing tbf.
We had the vast majority of the news delivered BEFORE the planning application went in (who the architects were, a definite size of the stadium, time scale for building) unlike WR who obtained permission for a stadium that only existed in his mind and could only ever be financed by PUBLIC money. Why on earth would he need to keep meeting with WMDC every month for the last 5 years if he could afford it on his own/jointly with waystones, who also clearly don't have the capital to build it out right either, if either Cas or Waystones, or both between them could have funded a build it would have been done years ago.
The loan on the land is hardly of a value to bridge that gap either. Now Gaslight has claimed today he believes Cas have already taken a loan out on that money. Which if true is very stupid. Now even if the ground falls through you will still have to pay a mortgage on the land you borrowed against. Very risky unless your 100% that the ground will happen.
Go to Doncaster over Newmarket?? Clowns of SL, long may you continue to entertain us!!
