| From looking at the steel work, the actual gradient dosnt look as steep as other grounds . It may be that could be the reason why some have said the stand dosnt look as high as expected.looking at the Wigan ground it seems much steeper as an example.

Not suggesting it isnt. Just offering an explanation why others dont think the stand is that high, thats all.

| Thinking of a future West Stand development and the positives we could use to persuade the residents who live behind to allow a new stand to be built.
Surely if a new stand went up it would look significantly better than what they look out upon at the moment. Secondly it would clear up the alley way that is such a mess right now and there could be security lighting and cctv which would make it safer. Finally there’s the mitigation of sound from the games, crowd noise, music, Announcements and even the diffusion of light from the floodlights.
Food for thought going forward if we think we’ll face objections from the residents

Regarding the West Terrace, obviously we're not going to get anywhere near what we have on the East. But in reality all we need is decent terracing at pitch level and a roof. How feasible would it be to have something similar to the South Stand at Dewsbury?

I don't mean exactly the same, something hopefully a bit better with no restricted views, quite basic but better than what we have?

Yes the middle section that extends further back is to accommodate the extra rooms such as conference rooms classrooms offices, reception area on the ground floor. The upper floor the extended area is for the hospitality section, staircases and lifts. We’ll see the shape better hopefully, when we get new drone photos in say a week’s time

Agreed. Even something like one of those what Vasty mentioned a couple of years ago, and I think he pul the link up on here. They did a lot of stands for lower and non league football. Weren't they called Stadium Solutions or something.
As for approval, there was a stand there before that stood for how how many years.

We don’t need to pursued the residents behind. So long as the new stand was no higher than the old West stand there is a precedent set.
Also I know that the club put in planning in 2000 for a West stand replacement and that was passed provisionally.
However the simplest way around it is to build a terrace up to the height of the existing wall. Then put in a temporary roof requiring no planning permission. If you want to know roughly what that will look like see then existing west terrace roof, as that is a temp structure. It will look like that but will be exactly 8 feet taller, and yes that’s an exact figure.
But to answer everyone’s point, it’s still way more money than we have.
Actually no it’s not, we could afford to do it next close season but you can forget about keeping Murphy or signing top players.
It’s a very simple equation. The new East stand will give us full facilities at last. The ground will hold roughly 8000. At present we don’t get close to that in attendances. We won’t get close to that no matter how great the west terrace is without a good team playing good rugby.
So spend on players or carry on upgrading the stadium. Sadly we can’t do both on the short term. So I’m for players from now on, and that’s hard for me as I’m a stadium fanatic and would love nothing more.
One point of note. The west terrace is only an issue if it’s full, which it rarely is. It’s only the bottom few steps that offer unacceptable viewing. The terracing itself is in decent shape, unlike the North terrace there is no safety issue. It’s simply not a pressing issue until we really start to test the capacity more often.
Plans are in place, both simple and more elaborate but they are on hold unless we snag another 500k to upwards of 2 million depending on the plan used.
Hope that helps.

| Let's be fair - anything done to the West terrace will improve it!
It was an absolute eyesore last season and will look even worse when the new stand takes shape.
I wander what the cost would be? (just in case I win the lottery!)

I’ve just told you
To bring the terrace up to pitch height and make the terracing steeper with higher steps, about 500k, or a four year deal for Murphy
To build a stand about 2-2.5 million. When I get the chance I’ll post you a pic. I actually know that the builder of this stand have done a feasibility study on the west terrace, bear with me.

| What’s the cost of knocking down the current pile of ad hock buildings that are currently there, they look bloody awful.
The stadium would instantly look better if they were demolished and removed.
As I understand it SKY won’t use them anymore and I don’t blame them and there must surely be a fairly simple solution to hosting a camera over there. There are hundreds of outdoor sports broadcasts where they erect a camera tower

| No point knocking something down to re build a similar structure. Best thing is to cover it with something similar to what Vasty has suggested to cover the void in the north stand.

| I think we all agree the west terrace is in serious need of a revamp. We must also accept that the funding for this is not available. However the cost of making it tidy and either pulling down or tarting up those boxes would not be that much I believe.
I have said this before. Our ground will resemble a nice new built house with a few scrap cars and an old caravan in the front garden, if its left in its present state.

Honestly PB I know what you're saying, but let's put it this way.
Nothing these days appears to be cheap, so I guess that to demolish and remove those old boxes and assorted crap would cost say 20k and honestly I really don't think I'm being OTT. We may be able to pull in some favours and get it for less. That 20k could be the difference between keeping say Shaw? I reckon we are as financially stretched with all the new stuff as we possibly can be without actually being overdrawn. So sadly even 20k is too much. I just think we are going to have to live with a ground in flux, until the new revenue streams comes on line and free up extra cash. Maybe the limited share issue JM seemed to be intimating may be a way to raise the cash to add some finishing touces, but as you and me know well, the response from the Wakefield public has not been great in the past.

It was an odd one this, I've actually posted about this one before, some time back. When I visited JM he was trying to explain the various options and one involved a system used by a football team that looked promising but he couldn't remember the name of the club. I then asked if he meant Maidstone and immediately he said yes.
I'm not talking out of turn as this was a fact finding mission.
What I don't want is anyone to think this is whats happening in any way. All I know is that the people who make the system have looked at BV and I assume it was feasible. No mention of quotes or anything as concrete as that.
The beauty of the system is cost and simplicity, it's as close to a flat pack stand as you can get, and one that actually fits in the limited space. It's relatively cheap. Much of the fittings are above ground meaning minimal foundations. It's basic, though nowhere near as basic as what's there now, but would do the job. It's tried and tested, I think a few have been done this way now.
My guess, in todays money, about 1.5 - 2 million to take it two thirds length as the current terracing roughly sits.

| I think Wakefield FC play at Fev. Would be worth seeing if we could bring them back for 2024 and look if there’s access to grants to get the west side upgraded.
That what Vastman has posted would be idea for us on the West. Basic but smart enough. Would only leave the south and bottom part of north.

Regarding the share issue…
Is this something the club intends announcing in the future?
Just after the Salford away game last season I emailed the club regarding this subject.. I received a prompt reply which stated it was something they were looking into on the back of the new stand going up.while I’ve no idea about interest or how much could be raised I think it’s a good way to raise funds especially with the club heading in the right direction.
