| regarding an up and coming youngster to take over sykes.... Liam kay is a stand off, but fills in elsewhere as required (much like paul sykes has done throughout his career). Matty wildie is probably going to become a hooker/ scrum half. As far as im aware booby jnr is a scrum half too, so signing him would be as an understudy to tim smith i would imagine.

| The last I saw of Murphy he was better than Smith is at present.
Can't claim to know how he's playing for Shudds, the same goes for ferguson.
Either way I wouldn't be too bothered about over tinkering, we have the bedrock of a good squad, a couple of quality forwards and some room to manouvre in the transfer market later on in the season should see us very competitive.

| I have to say I am in the Murphy camp. He is good, no doubt. His opportunities were limited with us last time but he was always deceptively fast and in our line now would be a great attacking weapon.
I always preferred him at full back personally. If Mathers stays then less need for him.
I'd have him over Mellors but if Lee Smith can get back to his previous standard then less need for Murphy in the centres either.

| To be honest, even though they are all rumours, being linked with Masoe, Poore, Thurling, Goulding Jr (good prospect) and Murphy shows great ambition from the club!
The double signing of Masoe and Poore would be a major coup and a pretty awesome front row!

| Never seen Masoe or Poore, I'm sure those bigging them haven't either, certainly not enough to form such presumptuous forecasts.
I remember how deverstating Leano was going to be, and a good few others!!!
Lets not start with all this crap again, wait for whoever to come and see how they go!!

Agreed
We've had a few good Aussies in our time and Tim Smith is right up there but, we've also had our share of not so good.
Hence the reason we are trying to off load a couple ironically to make room for 2 more !!
So lets hope that the ones that we sign will be both good players and want to play in England, for the full term of their contract(s).

| Is it only me who thought Mathers had a on and off season, he wasn't too consistent.. I'd rather have a new fullback to be honest, I just think Mathers bottles it alot. He should have to prove he can play consistently.

| If you look back over the years Parramatta have provided quite a few players for us and can't think of any bad players that they have ended up in a Wakefield shirt. Can anyone think of any?

Don't know much about Masoe but if you've followed the NRL in any sort of way the last 5 or 6 years you'll have seen a fair bit of Poore. Was an excellent player up to his injury, one of the best props down under and ended getting picked for NSW in 2009. Off the back of that form he then signed a massive 3 year deal with the Eels, where it all seemed to go tits up for him and he's hardly ever shown the form he did at St George. Listen to some of the Eels fans and you'd think he's the anti-Christ but that's simply because he was on such a big wack there and they haven't had value for money from him when he was brought in as a star player
Problem is if he comes over, will he get his head down and knuckle down & get stuck in, bit of a drop from being on $1million over 3 years to playing for us. Had a serious knee injury that kept him out nearly all of 2011 and could flair up again, so for the money he would be asking it would be a risk, one that could pay off but who knows, still only 27 though.

Could say that about all our backs & mistakes always get highlighted in the position he plays.
Personally like him and what he brings to the side, experienced, great in attack and always looking for work to give the forwards a hand and decent in defense and he's a good organiser and motivator out on the pitch as well imo.
Good enough player for where we are as a side and where we want to be next season.

spot on this post what mathers brings is his leadership qualities that most dont seem to appreciate, he marshalls the defence over the park and IMHO he is excellent at coming into the line making the extra man to open up defences, hes not a defensive full back but more attacking and that will do me fine thanks,

I can't comment on masoe but Poore is as good a prop as any sl team could hope for
My opinion on Poore comes from several seasons of watching him play

| I've seen a bit of Mose Masoe when he's featured for the Roosters - he's a big brute of a prop, who runs the ball hard and can skittle defenders; he's a bit raw and doesn't do many minutes but at 23, has plenty of development left in him.
I understand the Roosters are having to offload six players for cap reasons, so it's not beyond the pale that we might be in the running; I gather his RL hero is Big Ali, so he might be tempted to come play alongside him?
I think he'd be a big hit in SL and at 6ft 4 and at just shy of 20 stone, would certainly get the NGB4C seal of approval. To get both him and Poore alongside our existing forwards would potentially give us one of the most potent packs in SL.

Some of them under achieved but there is no way Mark Graham should be on that list! He was outstanding for us. He was always on a short contract.
And Tronc was very good, just wanted to go home.
The others under performed against their rep. That is different.

IMO Mark Graham was ok not outstanding but allowed himself to be dragged down by the Brent Todd issue which didn't help.

| I'm don't think that's the whole story - I'm sure I read somewhere that they're unloading half a dozen players to get under the cap, including Masoe.

I'm only speculating like everyone else but from what I've seen of Poore he'd be a very good acquisition, Mose Masoe, if he was fit and motivated looks like he'd be a huge crowd favourite.
His first name is pronounced '[iMozzie[/i' which would lend itself beautifully to the Adrian Morley song 'Thats Amoré'.
He's in demand which suggests he's certainly got some quality about him and none other than Wally's famous mate Artie Beetson was the one who alerted Sydney Roosters to his potential.
He's surplus to requirements at The Roosters and at least one English club has tabled an offer ??

WRECKING ball Mose Masoe's days at the Roosters are numbered, with three Sydney-based clubs ready to swoop.
Masoe was dropped from the Roosters' top squad but is in demand after starring for the Newtown Jets in the NSW Cup finals series. A UK-based club is also offering big money.
