TBF the reasons your site is discussed more on here than ours are 2-fold:



1 There's a regular flow of 'announcements' re the Cas site - whereas ours has been a softly-softly approach.

2 There is another forum for Cas fans whereas this is the main point of contact for us Wakey fans.

I tell you what though, I'd rather be in our position (having a funding package, architect, developer and planning permission on the way) than yours with, well, you tell me what you have done in the past 5 years.

Can't we all grow up. I'm sick to death of the continual Cas versus Wakey when it comes to grounds. The fact is both sides need the other one and it's healthy competition.



We're both knackered without a new ground and however you look at that prospect it doesn't bode well for both teams. So lets all get behind our seperate plans and wish the other team well and what will be will be!

All that statement is, is yet more empty promises. Why no time scale? What happened to the Architect appointment that was supposed to be done before Christmas? As usual Everything is not what it seems with Dick Wright!

This is my take on what will happen.



RW at Cas has got his plot of land and also got outline planning. What is holding him back is that he has no money to build it. I suppose if money can be obtained then its plain sailing for him but at the moment it is highly unlikely he will get the funding he needs in the short to medium term and that is too late.



Newmarket will be a community stadium and he knows he can go there if he wants. However he knows his fans would lynch him if he did. He also realises Newmarket also has to overcome the planning hurdle. What he is doing is sittiing tight and stringing his fans along to see what develops. If we get planning at Newmarket he will realise the game is up and he will have to decide what to do. When that time comes I believe he will come on board with us and blame someone else for having to move, most likely the council for not backing him financially. He will also announce the move as short term only whilst the economic climate improves. He will tell the fans that Glasshoughton is not dead and one day they will play there. I think most reasonable Cas fans may not like it but will accept it.



Like I said only my own thoughts

I think I'm right in saying that full detail plans are on their third or forth draft so they are also well on their way. They should be ready to submit almost instantaneously depending on the likely outcome of the outline planning application.

I have absolutely no idea where either the Cas stadium or where the Wakefield stadium is in terms of development.



It is imposible to read the threads as they are domintaed by pessimists, optimists or realists who have no idea what is going on because they cannot interpret the cryptic messages from the clubs.



What i do know is that in 4 weeks time after the election there are going to be the most savage cuts in public services and COUNCIL funding that the country has ever seen.





ANY development relying on council funding or even private funding is knackered . The Wakey council is not going to ba able to invest money in a ground when they are laying off Social workers, teachers and coppers.



It would be political suicide for the council to give money to Cas or wakey whilst sacking staff.





There needs to be a campaign for a shared ground before it is too late. Or one or both of you will go bust ( lose a franchise). Crusaders are safe after moving to Wrexham.





Wake up and small the coffee you lot and get used to ground sharing and then 3 years after that who knows.

One or both grounds may not happen.......but just for the record, neither proposal has asked for, nor needs any public money.

Good job the council will get Newmarket built for FREE in terms of cost to the taxpayer.

The development will also raise funding for the council in terms of tax raised through the creation of jobs and businesses on the site.

The site is all about "economic regeneration" and how many party leaders have spouted those 2 words in the last 2 days?? ALL OF THEM!!!

- If this goes to Westminster it will batted back quicker than an report on expenses from The Guardian.

All of fuss has come from the classification of part of the land, should the council choose to reclassify the land there won't be a leg for the opposition to stand on.



On a side note i found a comment from a Methley resident funny yesterday "If it wasn't for the WCCG i wouldn't have even heard about the development"- Well love, that's because you don't live in Wakefield- You dont buy our papers obviously (no matter how bad they are), you obviously don't associate with WF residents & clearly you have very little to do with WF in any way, shape or form, so why would you?
