I seem to remember MC saying that Kay was offered considerably more than the 8 you mention, plus 'extras' but he declined it.

| What I said Kay was on 8k believe what ever you want what carter said he was on that for about 3seasons, don't think wake fields offer was anywhere near than Leighs ,I'm sure liams happy where he is but don't gimme the argument they made a serious attempt to keep him rightly or wrongly they didn't

| Weswood,Ellis,Poaching,Amor,Smith,Aiton,Brough,Grix,Murphy,Ferguson......the list can go on and on.Liam is just another Wakey player that's moved on for more money.Wakey will allways be a selling club to the big boys who have a supposedly top youth set up?????Until we get a multi millionaire backer who is able to pay top wages to keep our youngsters then they will move on.Loyalty will only keep them at Wakey and those are the players I want to see in the red white and blue at the end of the day,too many youngsters are influenced by others who think they know better,I think some post on here.Time will tell, but I think in 2,3 even 4 years down the line,if these kids choose Wakey, the future looks bright.

| No problem with your views big lad, what I've a problem with is folk on here and the club giving the impression that local players Kay is an example are greedy, don't think a lad 21or 22 on 8grand a year can be accused of that,we know in kays case its in the past but as I said in a previous post, carters statement that kays agent wanted 4times what he was on doesn't tell the whole story does it whether Wakefield wanted Kay or not is a different matter but to try and put the blame on kays agent when the lad was on a pittance don't wash with me

You say he was on 8, Leigh gave him30+ extras.
4x8 = 32, close enough no ?

So Kay is on £30,000 a year at Leigh, for a kid who had very limited opportunities at Wakey, you can't be serious Mopsey!

| Anyway after todays game your signing of Richie looks much better value than Salfords signing if BJB. You've completely cleaned us out of players called Richie now so we may have to go after Richie Myler.

Richie Blackmore would probably do a better job for us than current crop of wingers.
And that's the guitarist

| Just come on this thread, so apologies if this has already been said, as I have not got time to go through all the posts relating to it. Richard Owen to be fair is more than a decent player. When he's played this year he's done well. The problem is not that he's not good enough, but that he is on far too much money and the club have been keen to get him off the payroll. Without going into detail, basically his agent sucker punched Cas and he ended up with a 4 year lucrative contract. I don't know the details of his Wakey contract, but there is no way they will be paying anything like what he was on, so I would imagine we will be paying some of it. I have heard that if Wakey stay up this year he will be permanent and in the event they were relegated (they won't be) he comes back to us.
He looked really promising a few years back, but had a terrible injury that knocked him back and he also had a couple of off field misdemeanours which he now appears to have learnt from. As I say he was not good enough for what he was on, but is definitely a more than useful player. If he could get back to anything like the promise he showed before his injury, you could well end up with a good signing.

| Avenger, some people will say I am a pessimist, but not even I believe we will go down this year, unless Bradford sign the likes of Cronk, Inglis, Slater, Cameron Smith, Thurston etc. Neither will Wakey for that matter.

Is this not the main problem?
Agar is relying on Bradford being so poor that he can tread water at Wakefield and still "suceed" by keeping Wakefield up.
That may be OK for die hard, pre-paid season ticket holders but how many others will stop coming?

Can't agree. They put in the same early 15 mins of effort we did.
Sorry mate, crap though we were we were not that bad. In the second half the Bulls only ventured into Hudds half four times or there about. It was only Hudds faffing about that stopped a massacre.
I don't like Agar or this team much but we were not as bad as Bradford - at least Cas had to break sweat (just)

I think you'll see a far better Bradford when we meet them in a fortnight. What worries me is what type of Wakefield we will turn out, because I will disagree with you here Vasty and unless we change things around I only see a loss.

Different issue Jack.
Two weeks time is speculation (though probably correct).
What happened yesterday is fact and IMHO Bradford were even worse than us. Much as we dislike Agar and his current line up I don't see any need to manufacture an even worse scenario than we already have.
Bradford were absolutely dreadful as opposed to just rank poor - it's all relative and semantics I know but it's what happened. That Bradford team are utterly beatable and even a full strength Bradford is a possible win so I'm not giving Agar any excuses at all - we must be up for this cup final of a game.
I can only see a Bradford win with current attitudes and selections.

| I think Bradford issue yesterday was, bar Sidlow, a lack of available props. Add in Fakir, Manukafoa & Kaufusi into that team and it looks a lot stronger and they would have been able to compete longer. They are also supposedly in the market to bring bring over a couple of guys from australia. I think we'll see a different bulls team when we run out at odsal. We need to be bang on our game for that one.

Addy will, once again, run the show against us regardless of who the other 12 are on the pitch.

Think they have an agreement with Rfl not to sign anymore oversees players until next season. Fakir has been poor in the short time at odsal.

We all have injuries to contend with, add in Tautai, Lauitiiti and a fully fit Kirmond and we look better
