| The last time we sent a player on long term loan was Mariano and didnt we have to pay a fee to Fev to get him back?
Would like to think that if we do have to recall either, no fee will be involved and we only have to give Fev decent notice.
But i thought we had a dual reg agreement with Fev?

| I've always liked this kid and surprised he hasn't been picked for more games. The 5 game ban certainly didn't help his cause but I had hoped he would get a run out or two before the end of the season. Was hoping he'd nail down the loose forward role after doing so well breaking into the first team, alas it's just not worked out for the lad.

| If this is true which I don't know we are looking pretty decimated at this time. If we look at the situation as it stands we have confirmed the departures of
Mathers, Moore, Sykes and Wildie
Loan Players
Reilly, Keinhorst, Owen, Gilmore and Smith
Retired
Raleigh
On Loan?
Annakin & Troute
Out of Contract
Ali, Walshaw and Molloy
On the plus side we have signed three players but it still leaves us with another off season of change. I hope they have a few signings to announce or we are going to look pretty weak next season which will not help season ticket sales.

| Webster said he was planning on running with a squad of 25 or 26 with a couple of 17 year olds in.
I'm guessing there are still plenty to come in.

| A meaningful loan spell will probably sort out once and for all if Anakin has what it takes to make it in SL; I remain open-minded, because what I've seen of him hasn't been definitive - he appears willing, but hasn't made much of an impact on the games in which he's featured.
As for the last loan deal to Fev - I wouldn't worry about this one going the same way; Mariano was handled in a uniquely awful way by our previous CEO, unbeknown to the coach or the player, leaving him with little choice but to sign for Cas.

| The coach has decided that they do not yet meet the standard required re: Superleague.
The fact that they are home produced should not in any way colour judgement when assessing ability and potential.
If some people had had their way we would now be facing relegation after playing not yet up to standard home produced.
Remember these two are not being totally 'axed'.
It is now up to them to prove they have the ability and desire.
If they do both they will be back.
What would be the point of them stagnating ,getting little game time, as ridiculously, clubs do not run 2nd teams.
That is the real problem!

I couldn't agree more - even though it would be a detriment to us, I think it was a mistake to let clubs decide not to run a 2nd team; it was a money saving exercise that will have a much greater cost in terms of player development. Not to mention that it leads to the ridiculous spectacle of Hunslet and Workington fielding international players on loan from SL clubs for rehab purposes, so it also buggers up the lower grade comp and blocks pathways for their own youngsters.
Potty decision in my view.

| Well that’s the last of the invincibles  gone , non are left from the year after , non from Ben Shulvers year , and only Tom Johnstone from this years ( not including the 17s) so what is the point of the academy , we obviously haven’t got the infrastructure to develop the talented youth players we recruit at 16. might as well use the  resources the scheme brings in to sign a quality first teamer ,

Indeed, there will always be an excuse as to why the club's juniors don't get a run of games. They will never improve if they dont get sufficient game time. Frankly, the fact Lee Gilmour is still in the squad over the likes of Annakin, Walshaw and Trout is a poor show. There is nothing to play for, no immediate danger facing the club. Sadlty the likes of Crowther and Jowitt will suffer the same fate in three to four years.

I'm less pessimistic - there have been changes at the youth level that won't start to filter through until the current crop of academy players are ready to start playing 1st team; I said at the time that we'd have to draw a line under what had happened before and hope that this new intake were properly handled, and I remain confident that they will be. We'll still suffer at the hands of predators (that's already happening to some of them) but I'm convinced that we'll see more of a measured introduction of youth products over the coming seasons.
If not, feel free to repost this and I'll join you in the glass half empty brigade.

I hope you're right bren2k, but what you've posted has been said time and time again and ultimately when it comes to the crunch, the are overlooked either for imports or old steady pros coming to the end of their career, the exception being when the club literally had no choice but to play a few kids. If Ellis or Westwood had broke through in the last few years I doubt they would've reached the heights they have. They may have found themselves playing for Dewsbury or Featherstone rather than for England.

Yep it does come over as 'same old, same old' and 'heard it all before' i'm afraid. I know results and league tables aren't everything at that age but this years 19's are bottom of the league and in the times i've seen them this year for the most part look way off being anywhere near ready if they ever will be.

| Although we haven't got anything like the resources of Wigan or Leeds (who most people would view to have the best junior set up's in the league). What we do need is some stability and long term planning as to how we produce more better quality juniors.
Are we guilty of not giving them long enough to develop or, are we not bringing them on properly.
Either way, it is clear that, for whatever reason, we are not developing top quality juniors, capable of having a career in SL.
Apart from Ellis and Westwood, just how many of our juniors have gone on to establish themselves in SL.
We have big numbers of players in the Championship but, very, very few in SL.
Are we discarding players too soon ?

| It doesn't give us much confidence to carry on paying into the Club1873. I agree we are discarding players too soon if this turns out to be true, season long loans tend to mean one thing.

I don't think they're are been given the opportunity to develop once they're on the fringes of the first team.

Most of the 19s in this years league will be gone, either signed up by their respective clubs or get lost in the system .At Wakey the vast majority will still be together for the next 2 yrs with some of this years 16s included which I believe will be a lot stronger and wiser.

| Club 1873 has been the catalyst for some major changes in the Youth pathway at Trinity, changes which have helped us go from a 4 rated structure to a 3 bordering on a 2.
1873 has also helped Trinity provide better facilities, coaching structure and scouting system which in turn has seen us recruit better juniors for the last 3 years.
The tip of the 1873 fuelled Youth Pathway is Crowther, Jowitt, Johnston, Swann etc and the 16s and 15s below them. 7 of the U16s have signed full time contracts while 2 (one an U15) represented England. All of the highly coveted U15s have resigned with the club despite being offered deals at other so called bigger clubs like Wigan, Warrington & Leeds.
1873 is perhaps the only decent part of the Elston/Glover legacy so please don't abandon it.

| I hope they are at least able to produce some good news before the season tickets go on sale (and no just having a stable club does not cut it) or other than the regulars I do not expect an increase in demand.

| Trout will not make a player we may aswell just release what is the point. Annakin has bags of potential and its strange why we cannot be bothad to train him up. Walshaw, Johnstone and Annakin should all be playing, why are we training 3rd rate cas players up instead of our youth its beyond me!

This season was always about staying in SL, at pretty much any cost.
Mission accomplished, even with the '3rd rate' Cas players!

| Walshaw when he's played this season has contributed significantly to our team and it would be a travesty if he and Annakin are not signed and further developed for next season as back rowers. I'd rather have them than a 'Has been' forward in terms of Moi Moi or Gilmour.

In essence - now is not the time to lose faith - give it time! Even this L**ds side, founded on a group of juniors that were signed together as teenagers, took a few years to come through! I remember a conversation with Toppo wher he was telling me that we should try and get a young player from the Leeds academy, who wasn't getting any first team at the time, and get him in the first team at Wakey. That lad, well it was Danny Maguire.
The events of recent years have de-railed much of our clubs great production line. People are working hard to try and correct that, let's give them chance!

Interesting that because it was David Topliss that broke up the Trevor Bailey Colts team and wouldn't entertain almost all of them as part of his 1st team, unpopular fact but true!
