A full back is required. Other than that there’s only a halfback that would add value. That said I’d give Smith a shot there first.

He’s been unavailable since January for Salford so more likely connected to that.

Hope not, just not good enough these days, thats when he’s not injured or suspended. Also hasn’t he been missing due to some medical/mental health issue? His release could be linked to that.

Few big ifs but, if he is fit and if he is motivated he would be a very good addition.



He’s a very good fullback on his day who can also play centre and 6.



His work ethic and toughness on and off the field is held in very high regards.



Could be a great addition to the squad if he is physically and mentally in the right place.

Given Applegarth's comments of an announcement in a day or two i'm wondering whether the signing could be loaning Luke Hooley and it will be announed after tonights game. Pure guesswork though.

It's a very big IF and i think whilst the player you describe was accurate it is very much now in the past tense i feel. He's played less than 30 games in the previous 3 seasons and has been absent from Salford all this year so far. I don't think he is the answer for us.

What's going on with Jack Walker at the minute? I know he has had some serious injuries, but wasn't he on loan at Hull last season?
