Yes and they're exempt from the cap but would still count to towards the quota/non fed allowance if applicable. I'm not sure if Trinity are paying up to the cap this year so I don't think there is a need for a player to not count against it.

so for example saying in theory a sponsor comes forward and says go sign cooper cronk and im willing to pay him 3k a week would we be allowed to do that or do you have to spend up to the cap before you can make a marquee signing

If you are not spending up to the cap, why would it matter? You can pay what you like.

in theory then what your saying is you can only make a marquee signing if your going to go over the cap so thats favouring the bigger clubs

I don't understand the question. The only benefit of making a signing a marquee signing is to spend over the cap.

If 27 player's salaries come to £500,000 less than the cap you can pay the 28th guy 500,000 without making him marquee.

It's only if you want to go over that you need to invoke the marquee signing rule.

Matter of opinion really, it could be argued the player we are signing today is our marquee player, and I don't mean Tinirau Arona from Cronulla Sharks either

I'd prefer to wait just in case it does not happen or at least not today anyway, if true you won't be disappointed, am told though we've already signed Arona but can't confirm it unfortunately.

I'd be happy with that although rumours of interest from other clubs such as Hull FC.

If this were to be BJB I would not class him as the marquee signing out of the ones we have made so for that reason I am leaning towards it being someone else
