Can't be true, not with Agar's exemplary record in bringing through young academy players into the first team.

Can somebody tell our scouts that there are other clubs than Cronulla in the NRL.

Yeah, several in SL and even more in the Championship. Academy's all over the place too all jam packed full of players, including our own.... Not to mention the thriving local amateur scene to have a go at.

Agar did say he would be talking to potential recruits for 2013 this year as well to get ahead of the game so this could be for then. Even so signing this guy for then would be a kick in guts for guys like Davey & Wildie.

how many overseas players do we really want?

With the signing of Ellis and the rumours of Sam Obst, now this guy and it would not look good for our own.



I understand looking to next years squad and being on top of any potential players who may be of interest but i hope its done with our own in mind.

I think Aiton is currently out of contract

If true, he would be a very good signing in all respects other than he's not English. He would IMO be 1st choice hooker even ahead of Andy Ellis who I rate very highly.



Fans will feel a tinge of disappointment because on the face of it James Davey & Matty Wildey would slip a notch further down the pecking order but Ellis and Aiton would both be great role models for them.



The reality is that the next two years we will be rebuilding and players will come, for a specific purpose, and go when the they've served it. During that time our juniors will be brought up to speed and the infrastructure of the clubs scholarships, Academy and Under 20s will be transformed so that we can create an effective pathway that delivers players ready for the 1st team.



In the meantime we all want to be competitive and entertaining on the field while rebuilding the credibility of Wakefield Trinity as a force in the game, a task that will take a few years but one which weve made a great start on already.

If its for this year then it would be the final nail in Tongia's Wakey coffin as well you would have thought.

Richie Mathers will be joining once his pay-off from Cas is sorted so Tongia will not be required.

I'm not a great fan of Mathers, but given the fact that we're currently hurtling towards a HKR-esque number of overseas players, that probably makes sense.

NEW Cronulla Sharks hooker Paul Aiton surprised his coach and teammates when he revealed he played half of last year's season for Penrith without one of his main knee ligaments.



Aiton, 24, was confined to "light duties'' when the new-look Sharks had their first pre-season training run yesterday at the new Bardon Ridge Sports Complex.

Coach Ricky Stuart said Aiton's drama showed the club had signed a "tough'' player. The club finalised its 2010 roster by adding former Canberra hooker Stuart Flanagan, who will battle with Aiton for a run-on spot, and the confirmation of Parramatta winger Tautai's signature.

Am I dreaming but with a constant revolving door it's hard to keep up. Did we, or didn't we also sign a hooker from Halifax a few months ago??
