Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. Quote ="Hopwood"Our 7 overseas signings are the worst ever. Only Whitbread gives us what we want. Tanginoa lost interest as soon as he got a long term deal. Lino isn't the playmaker we thought we were getting. Proctor and Langi are past it. Tofua is bang average and Atoni is stealing a wage'"
Agree they are the worst over sea signings I have seen at the club .Far too old or not good enough.Been better to keep Dave and Arona here and given more money to Miller .At least they new what the club ment to the fans .Lino looks to be getting plenty of undeserved stick now ,but in fairness to him, W Lewis was one of the all time greats but he could not save Wakefield, as just like Lino he was playing in one of the worst teams I have seen at Wakefield

Regards the overseas here’s my take…
Proctor - I like him. Hes been putting in some real shifts especially in defence and offers a decent link up. Hes not a rampaging forward but I certainly think he’s been a solid and committed performer for us.
Lino - though I’m not convinced he’s what we need beyond this season I do think he’s decent and it’s been pretty tough for him behind a team and pack that’s constantly struggling to come out from deep. We will only see his best when we are showing more go forward and pressing on the front foot.
Atoni - his first 2 games he looked good. Did anyone notice that both these games he came off the bench in the 2nd quarter and made an impact? Since he’s started games he hasn’t been as effective and also since he took a thumping hit in earlier rounds he seems to check his runs a bit instead of going full tilt. I would have him coming off the bench and seeing if he can find some go forward and find some form. Let’s not forget some forwards take time to settle. Whitbread 1st half of season last year was solid/average but in that second half he really did start showing some fantastic form. I think we need to keep the faith a bit with Atoni.
Langi - definitely not a halfback. He’s a centre and he was solid at centre.
I wouldn’t say I’m impressed by our overseas but I think there could be more to come from them. Too early to write them off yet.
I honestly believe having Tanginoa/Bowden bank in the forwards will be a huge boost. Tanginoa especially has been a huge miss and I expect to see him really digging deep when he gets back. As someone alluded to I don’t think we’ve seen anything like that destructive player when we signed him. We sure need that Tanginoa now.
The Smith/Lino seems the way forward in the halves. We need to stick with them and give them a sustained run.
My only concern is full back… we need to bring in a good standard full back.

Agree about fullback ,bad call to put a 18 year old there last week . The only way we can stop up his play100% no mistakes defence

| I think a lot of these problems stem from not have a director of rugby type role within the club. We had Chester who (if I remember correctly) many wated out at the time due to a poor run of results and just avoiding relegation, making signings along with the chairman.
Our demise following the playoff appearances once Kear left.
