I remember watching the great man,i can recall the fighting with the aussie tourists I think it was 63/64they won 29-14 neil fox kicked 7 goals,they knew they had been in a game,i recall reading the Yorkshire post when rocky had been dropped by great Britain who went on to get beat,and then was made captain of Yorkshire,who beat the aussies,it was said that rocky told all the Yorkshire team,let me do the rough stuff you play the game,one thing people forget about him he could kick a ball in open play,RIP ROCKY

Have I missed something here - I know the great man has passed but the silence about his passing is deafening!
Perhaps it may be at the request of his family that no public announcement has been made, I don't know but I cannot help thinking if it had been a Wigan or Leeds 'great' we would have had it stuffed down our throat.
Never though that DT got the recognition he deserved, as far as I am concerned his status as a RL player is up at the top.

The best loose forward I've ever seen,When I was playing Amateur under 17s rugby in 1957, I used to try and style my game on Rocky. I think he was playing for Oldham then. At that time Whiteley and Karalius were top loose forwards but Rocky Turner was the best. RIP
