| A conservative government have already set out their plans for the cuts that are coming and they are going to be much worse than we have seen already. George Osbourne has missed his target to clear the deficit by a mile, he got his sums wrong. Now he is in a rush to save face and for the next two years under the conservatives then it will be very painful. The NHS, education, benefits, etc have already been mentioned on here and all would be in serious danger but concentrating on the stadium issue, where is the funding coming from? We know the developer is supposed to be funding the majority but if there was any hope of the council serving up that £2 million which is needed under the s106 will have gone as their income will be slashed. Other areas of funding that I imagine have been earmarked for the other community facilities at Newmarket will be removed as they will be deemed non essential and directed elsewhere. The two year plan will cause growth to stall as people wait for the end of austerity before spending their money (if they have any to spend), meaning businesses will suffer, new builds won't happen and the trigger point never reached. And given his past record the likehood is that Osbourne will miss his targets again and the cuts will go on longer prolonging the misery.
Labour plan to cut more slowly, easing the pressure on councils and other services who are already stretched to breaking point. It's my opinion that a Labour lead government with potentially three front bench Wakefield MP's and a Leeds based S.O.S. who has a good working relationship with the probable chancellor would hold much more influence over Box than a conservative one and with much less by the way of cuts something good might yet come of this. If we wake up tomorrow with the conservatives back in control then I think we can finally kiss Newmarket goodnight.

| Quote vastman="vastman"Sorry but IMHO he's more correct than you.
For 15 years Labour under Blair/Brown followed a watered down version of Thatcherism minus the discipline required. They built their economic policy around a services driven economy fueled by cheap and largely uncontrolled credit and the vague promise of ever rising property prices. At no point did Labour attempt to control what was even then an obvious imbalance in the economy that would eventually need correcting.
To say Labour didn't create the world recession is ludicrous, they most certainly contributed in a massive way - the US toxic debt crisis was purely the trigger not the reason.
Germany never did follow Thatcherism or variants of and that is why they now rule Europe.
I am basically Left of Centre politically but to free Labour of blame - NO - not ever.
I'm voting UKIP - one because I cannot find what I consider a racist policy in their manifesto - two I cannot stand the pathetic way the left wing establishment has tried to smear them or anyone who supports them relentlessly and IMHO unfairly - but mainly to knock the 3 main political parties especially labour out of their complacent stupors and force them to listen to the average Joe of whatever race and stop pandering to the chattering classes and the lowest common denominators in society.
Thanks'"
I was waiting for this. It's nice to know that only having seen a couple of posts on here from you, I knew politically where you'd stand and how you'd justify it.
Cba with a debate though. I've got a wakey game to be prepping for.

| A few things to ponder for those who are yet to cast their vote (particularly if you've previously voted Labour):
Let's put the stadium issue to one side for a moment. MC came into this club with the previous regime having brought it to the brink through spending far more than we could afford with our income. He's since taken some very tough decisions in how much we can afford to pay our current squad and tried to ensure we are living within our means. As a result of MC's actions, the vast majority of us now feel that the club is in a much better position financially - even though this has resulted in us not being able to cope with the heavy injury list we've had so far this year.......but at least the club is still there, still fighting and we have a future to look forward to (regardless of whether it's in the top tier or second tier, at Belle Vue or Newmarket or Oakwell or Keepmoat).
Does any of that sound familiar? Chronic overspending; a lack of certainty as to the future financial position? It's exactly what Labour left the country with in 2010! The coalition had to take the decisions they felt were necessary to try to return some sort of stability to the country's finances.
But the mess Labour left after 13 years takes much more than 5 years to repair properly. What the country needs now is a further period of financial stability. Labour CANNOT win a majority in this election. If they are to have any hope of gaining power they will need the support of the SNP who want to overspend even more than Labour................and don't forget it's YOUR MONEY that they'll be overspending.
Labour may say that they're the only people who can be trusted with the NHS, but they are the same people who paid for the new hospitals by creating PFI partnerships that will cost us (as tax payers) far more than it would ever have cost if they'd just paid for the construction directly.
A Labour government now will be a bad thing for the country and it won't just be us footing the bill for their inevitable overspending, it will be our children and grandchildren that will end up paying the price.
So, for those of you who have still to cast your vote I have two things to say. First, regardless of who you end up voting for - make sure you go and do it. Second, it may mean that you go against every previous vote you've cast but I'd urge you to use your vote to keep Labour out of Downing Street.....even if that means holding your nose as you put a "X" next to the name of the Conservative candidate.
Right, politics over! Let's hope the boys put in a good showing against HKR tonight.

| Which party prior to the last election said
We have no plans to increase VAT
We will keep our AAA rating
We will wipe out the deficit within one parliament
We will not undertake a top down review of the NHS
We will reduce immigration
Vote blue go green
It worked last time so they are trying it again how quickly some of you forget the promises they made and broke.
