Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. If you are having problems logging in, please try a different browser or platform, if problems persist then email support@rlfans.com

After a Winter break, the Dads and Lads club is set to return on Monday 28th March. After a successful pilot last season, Community Development Officer Gavyn Lighthowler wants the success of the club to continue and grow as we approach the Summer Touch Rugby Season. Sessions will be held on the pitch here at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium from 6:30pm till 7:30pm.
Stewart Foster who was a regular last season said, “Since starting the dads club in the summer of 2010, I have had a massive increase in my energy levels and zest for life. I have made many new friends and had plenty to look forward to instead of lounging around with no purpose, the dads club gave me many hours of enjoyment that you wouldn’t get from going to the gym”
Community Rugby League Coach Gavyn Lightowler said, “It’s a great opportunity for anyone who wants to come down and have some fun and want to do that little bit more exercise.”
The programme is tailored to suit men from all walks of life who maybe just want to lose some weight or regain their fitness levels. All participants will be invited to form a team to enter the Wakefield Wildcats Touch Rugby tournament starting 27th April.
For all enquiries please contact Gavyn on 01924 211611 or email gavinlighthowler@wakefieldwildcats.co.uk. Participants are welcome to turn up on the night there is no need for registration.

| What sort of training do they do? Just normal touch and pass rugby? Sounds a laugh might be up for that

| I did this last season and I will certainly be doing it again. Just for your info last year it was a small group of 40 something dads and a few of their sons chucked in for good measure age 10,11,12 ish, (although you do not need a son to take part lol).
It's a non pressurized fun way of keeping fit. As someone who has always run/jogged alone it was nice to exercise around other people. Typically sessions would start with a warm up/stretch, a few fitness drills, some ball work and then a small sided game of touch and pass. We even entered a team for the touch rugby tournament and came second in the Social League. Hope to see you there!
