Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. If you are having problems logging in, please try a different browser or platform, if problems persist then email support@rlfans.com

Quote ="Chorlton RL"It'll be a better venue than Wheldon Road. So, we have that box ticked when applications come.
As for crowds and that, its difficult to say. There are so many more variables that could affect who turns up. Some fans won't want to travel, some fans will do it anyway, some folk might go because they never liked Belle Vue. It depends which division we're in and how well the team do this year and next. Also, there's a question mark over how many folk from Barnsley will turn up.
The main thing for the board to get right is marketing. If we're going to Oakwell it needs to be marketed to death, something I wasn't confident about with the old board, but hopefully this time around things will be ">different.'"
Its OK we'll just move to Elland Road, afterall it is in Cas

| At Oakwell we needn't open up the whole ground therefore reducing the running costs. We needn't even open the upper tier of the East Stand helping to get a nucleus of fans in a concentrated area and help the atmosphere

| Exactly !
You could leave the old stand and the 'Barnsley Kop' closed on match days.

Quote ="t-r-i-n-i-t-y"Smart thing may be for the club to lay on subsidised transport from Wakefield to Oakwell, included in the ticket ">price.'"
At the Q&A on Tuesday, DL said that he is in talks with Arriva about doing just that; apparently they wouldn't speak with him whilst we were in administration, so the conversations have now resumed.

Quote ="t-r-i-n-i-t-y"This is my worry of spending a lot on marketing to the folk of Barnsley while we're there. Will we convert many to want to make a long trip to watch us at Newmarket when it's done?
That, and they are the most parochial people on planet Earth down in the People's Republic and can't see them getting behind a team which doesn't have Barnsley in it. Strange place, see plenty wearing Barnsley shirts round town, but not many from other clubs like most places!
Smart thing may be for the club to lay on subsidised transport from Wakefield to Oakwell, included in the ticket price. Worry more about keeping our core and casual support going than picking up stragglers at that ">end.'"
Not sure you're right. Yes they are weird and parochial but I'm told in the 60's we had a large fan base in Barnsley including one Michael Parkinson.
Also in the villages/areas between South Wakefield and Barnley ie Royston the Wildcats seem well represented in terms of shirts and car stickers.
I agree we won't pick up 1000's but we may gain a following who may attend the big games if we return to Newmarket. This is not that different to a number of clubs who's spread out fan base don't attend every game.

Anecdotal I know, but when I delivered tickets for the game to my site in Barnsley today, 3 of the staff talked affectionately about Trinity, two saying they had been lifelong fans; I was genuinely surprised.
