A p**** for not shoving him.
Seriously though, how can anyone even begin to condemn Ferdinand for not shaking Suarez's hand after Suarez snubbed Evra?

Yes he did. The only defence I would offer Ferdinand is that it was instinctive as he was reacting to the Suarez/Evra situation whereas Suarez had a long time to think about what he would do.

| Can't believe the media (and forum) hype about this NON incident
A footballer has refused to shake another footballer's hand, NO-ONE'S DIED, NO-ONE'S SHOT THE QUEEN LIVE ON TV.
A non story, in which the media has whipped some sheep into a frenzy.
Let's move on girls, eh.

you're right of course but there are wider implications here
it's just not a case of not shaking a hand,it's the broader implications for the game as a whole, LFC didn't appeal cos' they knew they couldn't win but still feel aggrieved at the decision - the clubs need to get together with the powers that be and get this sorted

Ferdinand was also "considering" whether to shake John Terry's hand last week.
Ferdinand considers the pre match handshake as optional as drug tests and the drink-drive laws.

| I think the pre-match handshake thing is a farce, and I don't care one way or another if any player refuses the hand of another.
Yesterday was, however, a chance to start putting the Suarez/Evra incident in the past and let everyone move on - Suarez's refusal means it's all been blown up again and the thing is going to run and run.

| Quote Goochie="Goochie"What's changed at Everton recently? Looking like they might be in a relegation scrap a few weeks ago, now sat in 10th having beaten Chelsea and City without conceeding.
Also, why can't they play as well before January as they can after it, this happens every season?'"
Landon Donovan should get a lot of credit. He has brought balance to the side that we usually lack. Moyes deciding to play Straculursi has also helped. We spent most of the season with Saha up front on his own and he can't play that target man role at all. Denis can hold the ball up nicely and link play again.
I'm always more confident against the big teams at home that when we play the minnow. Moyes' negative football naturally works against the big teams but aren't effective against sides that are just as negative as they cancel each other out.

| I am getting pretty fed up with all this....somebody had a good idea in the gym i go to this morning....put them both in a boxing ring and let them get on with it
Suarez is a talent but a maverick (an unpleasant one at that) that Liverpool have to sort out pretty quickly, as for the Man Utd fans wanting to string him up and Sir Alex labelling him a disgrace, well Cantona had various problems as well didn't he?...but he turned out to be a half decent role model by the end of his career.

Chelsea are a great example of how having huge amounts of money can actually be a bad thing at a club.
The club is poisoned by cash and greed....They have players who are motivated by only one thing and that is cash. These same players are so selfish and money-focussed that they refuse to accept their own failings and, instead, when things go wrong, they gang up, protecting their own backs, and, put bluntly, get the manager sacked, by stopping playing.
The power that players now have, means that the clueless owner has little option but to wield the axe on his manager and then bring in another hand-tied puppet who, once the players get fed up with, will go the way of the others.
Everybody can see the problem at Chelsea....A number of players who, quite simply, are not good enough for a club of Chelsea's expectations - However , getting rid of a player or players isn't that simple, especially when they are on the sort of contracts that some of these players are on....For example, Torres, a player who is now completely and utterly shot, would normally be shipped out ASAP, but from Torres's point of view why would you seek a move when you are earning an absolute fortune, whcih is unlikely to be matched anywhere else in the world?
Sadly for Chelsea, this is a problem which will not go away quickly...They are no longer a top 2 side, just a top 6 side at best and that is a slide that doesn't look like being stopped with the owner's policy of constantly changing managers.

Good things that AVB has done. 1. Brought Mata. 2. Brought Luiz.
That's about it really.
We appointed AVB way before he was ready. 1 awesome season just wasn't enough. SB just isn't the place to learn the ropes and AVB simply doesn't have anything close to the personality to win over either the players or the fans.
I do think though that unless we can bring either Jose or Guus back, we're stuck with AVB for 3 years. We can't just keep chopping and changing without reason. The only thing that will see AVB go is if he Benitez's us. While the players are merciless MF's who will go to any lengths to get rid of someone, I'm not sure even they are that hard.
