| I'd love to know what Everton are playing at. Back end of last season they were almost unbeatable, with form on par with the likes of Chelsea and Man United. Now they are unable to buy a win, even against rubbish like Newcastle, no disrespect to them.

Wouldn't call them rubbish, just "good enough" really. They came, did a job and left with 3 points, but Everton were truly woeful. With Fulham A, Brum A and the derby as the next three, I really can't see a win soon.

You are traditional slow starters, I'm not sure if it's a training thing with Moyes, but it's a reason you're forever playing catch up in the places for Europe. Judging from your performances, it wouldn't surprise me if Moyes takes a 'continental' approach to training; starting with heavier training, then generally lightening things up in the second half of the year, which usually results in a sustained rise in form as your team physically peak. Benitez done it with us in many ways, generally 'cause we had a lot of internationals that had played in the summer, but it's a tactic Manuel Pellegrini has used to great effect in his career, although I do feel it's something that works better in the leagues that start in September, as it generally allows the heavier training to settle that little longer, whereas in England, it often results in teams looking flat, slow and lethargic, which is usually the opposite of what you'd expect from them.
I think you're a good side and should eventually get to the right level. Just a side note, my mate - a blue nose - said The Yak was immense when he came on against United, really making a push for a place, he said he had to play against Newcastle, but, from what I heard on't radio, it was Beckford who came in for Cahill. Why is this?

Strange game. Liverpool offered nothing until the two Utd brain farts. Then it looked it was Liverpools for the taking before Berbatovs winner. Pretty entertaining overall. Fergie must be worried about his defence though.

It was a terrible game until the 60th minute mark when Liverpool decided to play some football at 2-0 down. It was too easy for United until that point, and if you're a Liverpool fan you've got to question why they didn't show any ambition with the ball until they were behind.
Full credit to Berbatov though, 3 good goals. His 2nd was absolutely sublime.

| United did what needed to be done for the first hour. Not outstanding, but didn't need to be. Liverpool were so poor it's quite sad. Poor defending let United down again. We need Rio back sharpish, and we need him to stay fit. Also in desperate need of a right back.
From a Liverpool perspective, they must be worried. Showed nothing for an hour then gifted two goals (Evans shouldve stayed on his feet but to be fair he was simply outclassed by the Torres turn). After that they had the momentum, but still created nothing.
Berbatov has been pure class this tear. Fair play to him.

Never seen the game (been working, Catalancs), but I can't say I'm surprised.
Our team is lacking so much from the midfield and wide areas. A poor transfer window didn't help, but we'll just have to accept the continual decline of our squad/management until new owners arrive. We simply aren't a competitive club, from on the pitch right through to the board.

icon_redface.gif" alt="icon_surprised.gifops:" title="Embarassed" /> Think you've got me mixed up with someone else. United are my favourite football team, have been since I was a little'un, but not sure I'd class myself as a fan. Have had the football on mute all afternoon while listening to York v Blackpool in the rugby league.
You have to remember it's only an internet forum. Whether you went to the game, watched it on tv or one of your mates told you what happened doesn't affect anyone on here and probably doesn't interest anyone either.
United looked shaky at the back and made some poor choices especially in the second half. Liverpool fans should be very worried and I don't think Roy Hodgson is the man to lead you out of the mire.
Half way through September and I can't see past Chelsea for the title.

You know exactly what I meant when I said it. Generally, if I wasn't at the game or whatever, it'd usually be followed up with a snide remark from yourself. It's not about affecting an internet forum, it's about avoiding your goading. You know exactly what I mean

As for Roy, I've said it all before, I want him to do well, but the club is now being ran poorly on all levels, which will continue to be exposed the longer things go on like they are.

Unfortunately it's the third successive year we've been in the bottom three in September. Confidence was high pre season and a lot of people thinking we could finally hit the ground the running but as of yet we've been anything but, really poor. Defensively we've been ok, a lot of peoplr criticising Distin yet Man Utd game aside we've only conceded one goal per game, I think people should be looking to our attacking/flair players for criticism, Arteta has done fook all so far this season and Pienaar was poor yesterday. We're limited in attack but I'll come onto that below. We didn't strengthen well in the transfer window, we were and still are desperate for someone who can play wide right, Moyes didn't buy and we have been left with Osman playing there the last two games and tbh he's woeful, really woeful. Squad player maybe but not a starter. We may come good as you say but it won't be for a long while on current viewing. Good point you make about the training and fitness, wouldn't surprise me if true.

Mate I've been asking the same question since half 2 yesterday when I saw the team, I can't understand it. He changed the game completely against United, without him we wouldn't have got back into it (If you look a few pages back I said the same thing), he almost done it yesterday when he hit the post at the end. I fear Moyes has a problem with him and it's costing the team badly. Beckford looks ok, works hard runs all day but hasn't had an ounce of service but he's no lone frontman he couldn't do it at Leeds I've no idea why Moyes thinks he can do it here, his obsession of the one up front is getting embarrassing now. I worry he's trying proving a point to Yakubu by playing Beckford and leaving him on the bench (Moyes did say yesterday Yak had his head turned by West Ham over the summer). If he isn't fit enough to play 90 mins yet due to his injury pre season then why not start him and bring him off, give the Yak 60/70 mins and Beckford the rest. It makes no sense to me the other way round.

| Lovely goal by Pique and surprised Barça were so dominant.
De Gea was oustanding.

De Gea was ">oustanding.'"
Apart from De Gea Atleti were hopeless, picking Aguero was a massive mistake, he was nowhere near fit - the attempt to mix the team on Thursday and tonight failed big time, we ended up with two mediocre performances because there is no squad depth.
Busquets practically played on top of Pique and Puyol when Barca had the ball at the back which freed the full backs to get on and overload Atletico, because there was no energy up front for us to press them effectively, I don't know what the stats say but possession must have been 70/30 at least.

| Shame really as it was billed as the match of champions all week and I was looking forward to it.
Am I the only one who thinks Ujfalusi was unlucky to get a straight red? Will get a better look at the challenge when I watch the highlights show later tonight, but it looked like Messi just went over his leg. Having said that, Messi's ankle was a nasty size and not a nice colour within seconds.

I think a lot of the media have been getting carried away about Atlético's start, I was watching the game against Athletic last week and La Sexta were doing live league table updates everytime something happened, and afterwards kept going on about them being top of the league, you wouldn't have thought we were only 2 games into the season, maybe it's all in hope that someone else might challenge Barca and Real Madrid, but we are way off that, Barca played very well tonight and were in a different league.
Valencia and Sevilla in the next couple of weeks will be more realistic tests of any big improvement.
