It's my first post! and I didn't really expect it to get stupid replies - I was generally interested in who people prefer? Amos or Shaun? Simple as that... The whole point of this forum is discussion isn't it? I could understand if i'd posted something that has nothing to do with Wigan RL...

It has been done to death throughout the season so most people are sick of discussing it at this point. Your best bet is to trawl through the last few pages of posts to find what has already been said.

I suppose when comparing them neither are that good in the air which is a shame really because a modern day winger should as a bare minimum requirement be able to deal with kicks to the corner. Ball in hand both are pretty good, both break tackles and both make reasonable meters from dummy half, yet they posses different types of speed, Amos is the quicker of the two but I would say Shaun has better acceleration of the mark.

A very close call between them for me, with Amos just edging it on experience, however that may change over the next year if Shaun goes out on loan.

Nicely summed up, but is he worth it when you consider he is quota (?), 29 ish and on a 4 yr deal undoubtedly a few magnitudes higher than Ainscough's?

I watched the game again for the 1st time this morning and when we were attacking and put a high kick towards Roberts in the first half, both times he collected the ball and we nearly scored. However defensively he was poor with his high kicks.



It doesnt help when you have someone like the size and quality of Matt King in the centres. So was it not Gleeson's job to defend these kicks?

I don't think I've ever seen Gleeson take a bomb in Wigan colours.

If you are attacking you are running onto the ball and therefore it is easier to collect and score. When defending you are more than often going backwards with the opposition coming at you with pace so it is alot more difficult to catch the ball. Richards is the best under the high ball but even he drops them in defense sometimes.
