| Fair does to Stu for not hiding. That said I disagree with him in that it wasn't just Percy and Hurrell and the fans (some) and possibly Welsby. The players had been in "meltdown", if that's the word we're using, for most of the match. The constant and deliberate foul play tells you that. If 2 yellows and a red on top of bottle kicking, swearing at your team mate etc isn't meltdown then I'd be interested to see what is

Poor discipline at times was a factor under Woolf however this did seem particularly prevalent against Leeds. Wellens alluded to that and said it was something that really disappointed him.
We played 22 mins with 12 men and now may cop for 3 players getting bans when we already have another 3 doubtful for Leigh

From reading comments by Stu I find him to be a reasonable saints fan (not like some) but I fear that he will lose this battle.

Referring this back to the "meltdown" debate Stu; don't you think the fact that you're even talking about 3 potential bans (on top of everything else) supports the view?

He is but, as you say, I think he's probably stretching credibility a little with this one. Probably the most un-Saints like performance and reaction I've seen in decades and certainly over the last 5 years or so.

| All 3 Saints players banned. Matautia and Hurrell 2 games each and Sironen one.
Interestingly Walters has been charged with a shoulder charge and received a fine but no ban

I've no doubt the greatest squad in the history of the game can handle such a minor setback against little old Leigh

And with their depth in the squad of world beaters, they prob could pick academy players and still put 20 points on Leigh.
I think Leigh should forfeit the game as surely they have no chance.

Sounds about right on all 3. I thought the Hurrell one was possibly the worst of them but his otherwise good record probably helped him.
The Shoulder charge should have been penalised at the game as it clearly was one. Surprised he didn't pick up a match ban for it tbh.

Agreed, all seems about right. Hurrell was worse as it was direct contact with the head but he more leaned in to make contact rather than hit with force. As you said previous does and should count.
What surprises me it there wasn’t also a misconduct charge for Hurrell for refusing to leave the pitch and his reaction when off it.

| Was a crowd of 15,000 plus reported or am I imagining it? There was no where near that figure. Only 250 in the away end and gaps elsewhere. Whoever counted the crowd, could I kindly ask that they count my wages?

Ground holds about 18k and Saints announced a sell out in the home end. Sounds about right to me.
Bear in mind that in the same way as at Wigan on Thursday.....if someone buys a ticket but doesn't turn up then they'll still count in the crowd figure

I think a lot of fans have got into the Pitchfork mentality and are looking for penalties at every opportunity given then RFL's attitude last few years, and now refs are showing more common sense the Fans are struggling to actually see what's in front of them and are still screaming for penalties and bans for everything
A few of our fans I've seen calling for Watts to be banned - I'm not Tech Savvy to start putting pics up but there wasn't much in it - Wardle passes and practically turns his back and Watts wraps his arm round and hits him pretty much across the Back - The amount of people claiming Watts almost decapitated him his ridiculous.
The Ref stated that there wasn't any Rotation from Walters to be a shoulder charge i.e. although he uses his shoulder he does it from a "Front on" perspective not turning side on
Rohan Smith also said something which I can kind of agree with which is the other player is in the position that normally Walters right arm would "Wrap" although I do think he possibly has to do a bit better to try.
So overall on balance I think it's just about ok and isn't the kind of "Shoulder charge" that they intend (Rightly or wrongly) to get out of the game.
The 3 Saints Bans I think they got about right
Matautia was late, from behind and no Wrap just a Shoulder
Sironen wasn't as bad as above so 1 game
Hurrell - front on but catches him high - If he had left the floor and thrown himself at the attacker it could have been a 4 or 5 - But 2 games is about right I reckon (Surprised no mention though of him not leaving the field directly).
Overall I think the new interpretations are working much better, leading to a better game and I'd like it to continue this way and fans (I would mainly blame the Twitter/FB Brigade who probably don't in the main go to the games) need to be Wary of wanting every decision to go their way so much as it creates a situation where the RFL react by putting Black & White rules in place that they apply 100% of the time and then get criticised for because they're not using common sense and get criticised by the same fans who want "Consistency".

It wasn't empty though was it, so would be 3k+
Saints announced a sell out which would be a pretty dumb thing to do if they felt they could sell more tickets.

Leeds sold approximately 250 tickets, the away end has a capacity of 3,899 so, doing the math there is no way that there was over 15,000 spectators at the match.
